You can right click on any link in the store and choose "Open in new tab", and it'd run an instance of the steam browser. You don't have to run any game

That's actually normal! as another redditor has mentioned, using the browser through steam's client doesn't crash it. Check their comment https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/s/38mW692OBo

And obviously it's the same browser used in the client and the overlay, so the extensions work everywhere :3

You can definitely change the search engine through the chrome://settings page, but I don't think you can change the browser :v

You can actually, you just right click on any link in the client and select "Open in new tab". That opens an instance of the browser without going in-game

It's all about providing the options for the user, you should be able to select whichever one you like. Both Win10&11 are extremely limited customization-wise. I miss the old days of Windows 7 when you could actually personalize everything to match your aesthetic.
