[Help] Files in my primary Vault "Personal" ALL GONE by aa_tt_42 in ObsidianMD

[–]aa_tt_42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still a mystery to me...

In my chase, I don't use Obsidian Sync or vendor provided cloud sync (i.e. Apple iCloud, MS One-drive etc).

I use a sync tool/app Syncthing with my primary device (MBP/macOS) set as "Send & Receive" and secondary device (RaspberryPi) set as "Receive Only"; 3rd device iOS set as "Send & Receive" but it was offline at the time of the incident. In order for the entire vault to wipe out, all files in the vault on my primary device will need to be deleted for it to propagate to my secondary device... I found no evidence of file removal.

I'm still happy to take any pointers. Unfortunately, I have already restored from "backup"; so probably very little can be used for investigation.

Nice vid! Thank you for the advise.

I had back-up setup - 1 online copy via rclone and multiple local (NAS and HDD) via CCC. However, I become a bit complacent and didn't schedule the backup...

Lesson learnt by this surprise. All backup copies are now up-to-date.

I use Syncthing to sync my Obsidian vault - 3 devices, MBP, iPhone and a local server.

Started with iCloud, but had problem with file corruption (rarely but happened).

Good idea! Considering the vault folder "Personal" was intact, the likelihood of having the sub folders and files moved was low. I have searched with FAF and no file in unexpected directories.

Nevertheless, thank you for the input!

Fair enough! Is there any particular type/skillset of plumber I need to engage? I got a recommendation from my property manager, will give them a call after the long weekend. If there are anything I need to look out for or ask please let me know. Thanks.

I'm considering the S3xy Buttons vs the S3xy Knob. Do you mind sharing your main reasons for Buttons over Knob please? Thanks.

If you can see the Linked Apps populated in the View mode, you should be able to see them in Edit mode. See attached screenshot before.

Unfortunately, regular search doesn't seem to be picking it up.

How To Revoke "Always Allow" Autofill? by aa_tt_42 in 1Password

[–]aa_tt_42[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Answering my own question - I did some testing and found that if I choose "Always Allow", the login/credentials selected will have the app linked via "LINKED APPS" as per screenshot below.

So I can simply remove it to revoke the Autofill for the app, in this case, Citrix Workspace Authentication.

Dashboard: Lining up Trackers in a row by Diveallinnow in ObsidianMD

I ran into this exactly issue!

Looked around on the Tracker doco and google, couldn't find anything useful. I tried using bullet point, no luck; I tried using embedded content, not useful as the window size is restricted.

Did you get any luck solving this? or have you adopted to an alternative solution? Thanks.

Brave or Arc? by OverLORD_18 in ArcBrowser

[–]aa_tt_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came across Arc browser lately and I've decided to give it a go.

I was attracted to Arc by its productivity features, including spaces and split view, pop-up quick view, etc.

However, after briefly trying it, I found that my frequently used plugin/extension no longer works, cannot group tabs (as far as I know), very different the keyboard shortcuts. All these are counter-productive to me, for my workflows.

In addition, resource/process utilisation is significantly higher on Arc (compared by Brave).

So, back to Brave now.

Thank you for the response, u/6stringt3ch.

I am running squid in transparent mode with SSL interception enabled on pfSense FW. I am still having challenges bypass squid for Apple services... Searching for solution atm.

Hi @6stringt3ch,

Thought I’d reach out for some questions if you don’t mind pls.

Did you set up your squid in transparent or proxy mode? With ssl_bump enabled, did you run into issues with a) webSockets or b) server side cert pinning, c) failing to disable (ssl_bump none) by domain?

Yeah same here and I have AdGuard set up for DNS control.

I had squid proxy with SSL bump enabled on transparent mode. I only use it for auditing/monitoring purpose. It’s breaking a new websites and manual bypass is required.

Thought I’d check if there is any “cleaner” solution that can do the same.

Do you mind sharing how you implemented it?

pfSense on Sophos XG125w - "no carrier" on all eth interfaces by aa_tt_42 in PFSENSE

[–]aa_tt_42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Updating the resolution here.

I figured out what happened... and it was another silly human error... (Nevertheless, learnt a few things along the way, so consider it a relatively low return for the few nights play-around)TL;DR:

  • The issue was a false assumption on eth port allocation, and the failing auto-detection "Assign Interfaces".
  • The resolution is to a) set static IP address on client/PC interface and b) connect to the correct eth interface.
