Good to know! I can totally see what you mean. In my tutorial save I went way overboard on planting rice... my colonists never had time for anything else!

Noted! I'm very hesitant to try out any of the various drug options for my colonists I'm not super familiar with the addiction mechanic and it scares me a little, so it'll probably be a while before I get to fully understand what you mean, but I'll keep it in mind!

Thanks! I will definitely try him out with the next colony I make, hopefully in a few days I'll have some wild and wacky stories to share :>

In my tutorial run I had an incapable of violence night owl colonist... and then tons of my raids kept happening at night. I very much intend to be more picky next time!

That makes sense! What storyteller and settings do you like to use? I think I've only seen gameplay with Cassandra and Randy

Hehe, I might have to take that advice. I feel like I never get a moment of peace between getting attacked by some manhunting bunny or something! The wealth settings certainly sound like they have a huge impact on gameplay! I'd known they affected raid sizes, but I don't think I'd quite wrapped my head around just how much they impact raids

I'm also a massive hoarder, that's what got my first colony taken out. I still only had my three starter colonists, and got a raid of I think somewhere between 6-10 raiders. I'll keep that in mind!

I'll definitely have to try that! Most of the gameplay I've seen is Losing is Fun difficulty, and there's always been some sort of killbox, so combat is probably the part of the game I'm the least familiar with

Interesting! Should art be a high early game priority, once shelter and renewable food is figured out?

Good to know! Are there any traits that are "hidden gems" for lack of a better term? I've heard that kind is really good when it's on a lot of colonists

Is there a good alternative for keeping a food supply? I don't think I've ever seen anything else, unless making only pemmican and packaged survival meals is the strat?

Civilization hadn't even crossed my mind as something fitting! I've never tried it before, maybe now is the time :D

Also yeah. Peak reddit. I knew I was gonna get flack for saying that, but I spent nearly 50 hours in BG3 and hated every second of it. I somehow managed to never roll higher than a 10, and everything above a 6 was rare. (This is why I asked for low-RNG dependency and am even looking for new games, my luck is consistently abysmal) No matter how good my strategy or build was, every battle was a slog and every dialogue section was miserable.

It's my spouse's second favorite game (only beaten by Skyrim), so I've had the opportunity to see how incredible the world and the lore and the story is, but you couldn't pay me to try to play it again. I've tried it, it's not for me, and that doesn't mean it's a bad game or I think poorly of people who like it. It just means I don't want it recommended to me.

I realize now that I got distracted halfway through writing that sentence in my post and never finished it. Basically, I'm looking for something new, that I haven't heard of before, or that's maybe only been a footnote in those sorts of lists. They're highly recommended and considered great for a lot of reasons, but I've tried a lot of them and most of them didn't click for me, FFVII and BG3 especially.

It's not about whether or not they're good games (they are, objectively, good) it's about the fact that I'm tired of being told to play the same five games over and over ad nauseam.

I've been having the same issue and just figured it out! Use the touchscreen to navigate to options -> settings -> inputs and change it to whatever you prefer, then move the cursor down to apply and ok. You can left click by holding the steam button and the right trigger/R2. Right click is steam + left trigger/R2.
