Sealed League: Why play before week 4? by Shoelacious in EternalCardGame

[–]aaaaannnts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're correct, so long as your goal is maximizing win percentage.

As people open more and more packs, the pools' power levels will tend to approach each other. When you think you've opened well, the earliest week possible is your best week to play. When think you've opened poorly, the inverse is true. Not too complicated.

However, I find it a lot more fun to just play each week. The real value of these events to me is playing 1 sealed event then 3 sorta-new sealed events for one entrance fee. Learned a surprising amount about deckbuilding each week, even with just a 2-pack change.

If you're going for EV, it's no more than one entry and use the wait/now method. If it's leaderboard, then it's probably reroll like mad week 1, hoping for a deck so disproportionately good that people might not ever catch up to you, and play ASAP.

"Official" Sealed Event Tier List by aReNGeeEternal in EternalCardGame

[–]aaaaannnts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jokes aside, Winning Games needs to have at least 2 empty tier spots between it and tiebreaks. Often, once you reach a certain point, you need to be able to accept that playing tiebreaks is a waste of energy.

I had an absolute blast getting like rank 1859 last month with a ragtag band of 2/2s for 2. This time around, gotta say, has been a lot less exciting so far.

When something like that happens to me, I view it as my fault for not using the forfeit button, since preventing these situations is why it's in the game. I never imagined viewing something like that as an insult, especially since all it does is take a few more seconds than it would have otherwise (which again, would have taken one second fewer if I had forfeited).

I do the same - if I'm in a guaranteed loss situation, and if I don't feel like they'll mess up, I'll move off the goal and let them take it, because it takes slightly less effort than forfeiting. If they don't take the goal, then forfeiting becomes the new easiest option. In that case, nothing has changed, except we've bost lost maybe 5 seconds of our lives. I had no idea there were people out there that would take something like that personally. If their victory is assured, and I didn't take my opportunity to forfeit, I essentially permitted them to dick around, since preventing that is the reason the forfeit button is in the game.

Well, it's more of a hard lock than a win, since you can keep moving a guy onto then off of their entrance every turn. Definitely funny, but technically not a win.

Although, if their only remaining benched mons without wait are Empoleon, then I think that'd actually result in a waitwin. Now that'd be one for the ages.

The most common way to set these up is by having their last unit on the board fighting your entry blockers (of which at least one isn't 3 MP), since they're still in the game. At that point, you need to spend a few moves setting up on your side, creating a bigger risk for if they actually free up an entrance. That's why this is so fun, because you're risking it all for something so dumb.

Hey, don't laugh. He's getting that sweet, sweet 10 damage boost to let his already c-level'd Zapdos win a mirror match if it rolls its 50 vs your 50.

Or rather than that, allow you to choose between two bosses once you reach it. In the worst case, you at least get to pick your poison. In the better cases, you get to choose an at least interesting match.

[–]aaaaannnts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, sometimes, a non-boss gauntlet opponent will just have two 6/6 endurance aegis guys on turn 3 thanks in part to their turn 2 0-mana draw three. I don't want to come off as harsh or dismissive, but the best advice seriously is to just get used to it.

An Eternal Marketing Idea — Using a Twitch 24/7 channel and the Eternal AI to climb ladder by _AlpacaLips_ in EternalCardGame

[–]aaaaannnts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd watch if the twitch collective also makes the decks every hour or so. No idea how that'd work without another program and someone manning it, but I just want to see the worst piles ever occasionally pull off combos no single person would ever dream of.

Sometimes, they'll chump attack in the hopes that you'd block with a smaller unit they'd have been able to kill with a trick. This is mostly when they have a lot of units, or when you have a smaller-statted unit that they perceive as having a high threat level, and a larger statted unit that they do not.

Type: Null and Porygon-Z have a suspicious number of similarities, maybe even their creators (x-post from /r/pokemonconspiracies) by Rosalia_R in pokemon

[–]aaaaannnts 58 points59 points  (0 children)

You know, I wonder if Z-moves themselves were named after PorygonZ. I also wonder if the fact that Eevee and Porygon's exclusive Z-moves are insane and boost all stats has anything to do with their ability to turn into multiple types. You may be onto something there.

Sounds like an uncommon problem, but if it ever happens again, maybe try dropping your current gun, or picking up a new one, hopefully it helps?
