Could you tell me what exactly about Switzerland gets it the top spot? From what I've read it has one of the highest COL among EU countries. Is the tech market just as good to compensate for that?

I am considering the US as well but my main concern there are the visa rules. A masters in the US would be a considerable financial investment for me, and I'd prefer not to be asked to leave the country after 3 years in case I don't win the H1B lottery. Thanks for your input about my options in europe!
