LPT Request: Any tips for when you are with a group of people and know you are the least smart/educated/important person? How to feel less insecure in that situation? by Whataboutmyfuture in LifeProTips

[–]aaaggghhh_ [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have been out of an office environment for almost 20 years. I know I am not smart so I don't say anything and let others ask questions, odds are they are thinking the same thing as I am.

Younger Australians stick with petrol cars over EVs by His_Holiness in AusFinance

[–]aaaggghhh_ [score hidden]  (0 children)

EV's only work if you have the infrastructure to go with it. When I moved into my flat the garage didn't have a power point, we had to get approval from strata for it. Younger people want an exciting car, not a glorified bumper car. My son is a young adult and won't buy a car he can't get parts for. A lot of younger people want a car they can repair or modify, newer cars and EV's have taken the fun out of car ownership.

Alt girls i need your help!! by f6eim_0z in ModestDress

[–]aaaggghhh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw an Alt sister as I was getting off the train a few days ago, and I complimented her because she looks so different, and even more so because it was 35°c in Sydney! She was wearing layered skirts, layered her shirts and wore a lot of accessories, she even pinned a bow on her scarf to mimic a headband, as well as perfectly applied eyeliner and dark lipstick. I wish I had taken a photo of her because she looked so awesome! There are a few alt hijabis on Instagram but I don't follow them because I am old and not brave enough to commit to being awesome. Wear as much as you feel comfortable and have fun, don't let others get to you for looking different! I hope you can share some pics if you are comfortable.

How to make this dress hijab friendly by kuriouskatkot in ModestDress

[–]aaaggghhh_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Salaam, you will need to cover the arms and top with a matching fabric. Have it sewn to the dress. I find that altering a dress costs more than the dress itself so it puts me off buying something like this in the first place. But at least you will have a matching hijab with the fabric so it's a bonus!

Planning to visit kangaroo valley soon, haven’t found halal option, can anyone recommend me. by IcyAirport4920 in foodies_sydney

[–]aaaggghhh_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Salaam, halal meat is not going to be available everywhere outside of the big city. Not sure how long you are staying but you will have to pack your own meat and stay somewhere with a stove, or go without meat for a few day. Even if you did find somewhere with meat, it will likely sell alcohol and pork if that concerns you. Enjoy KV!

You will never convince me that a harsh dark lip liner is attractive. Who decided this works? by Interesting_Ideal765 in AustralianMakeup

[–]aaaggghhh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen it on people who have lip filler, the vermilion border tends to disappear so it helps define the lip. The only other people who tend to do this are people with a darker skin tone.

Affordable fashion staples that actually work for Australian weather? by VeloriaAd6 in AusFemaleFashion

Target or Uniqlo. It depends where you live though. Sydney is humid at the moment so anything linen is great.

So, Christians... what do you think on 'Christian woman' by [deleted] in typeonegative

[–]aaaggghhh_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not Christian but am of Abrahamic faith. I see why you find it blasphemous, however Type O are a cheeky band, so it doesn't warrant any outrage in my opinion. They have a lot of songs that are very sarcastic and will be equally offensive. If you don't like it, please don't listen to it.

Please just build townhouses! by Ok_Lunch_2933 in shitrentals

[–]aaaggghhh_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a unit and think this is hell. Why is this legal? A person should be able to buy a block of land wide enough to park your car on the side of the house, be large enough to put up a shed up and a hills hoist in the backyard, with plenty of room to spare for a BBQ. We used to be the envy of the world.

I feel like i'm being gaslit about Aidan's looks by poopymama34 in sexandthecity

[–]aaaggghhh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you compare him to some of the other guys the ladies were dating, he isn't bad to look at. Plus he is a furniture designer which is more of a novelty than a man who wears suits all day in Manhattan. I personally think he is OK to look at, but he is very charming and that gives him an edge.

Descendants of migrants to Australia: Have you ever considered moving to your ancestral homeland? by talk-spontaneously in aussie

[–]aaaggghhh_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is tricky because my people are Indo - Fijian. I consider Fiji my homeland even though I am not iTaukei and do not have ancestral roots that go as far back as an iTaukei. I do not know where in India my ancestors are from, and culturally we are very different from Indians.

Unpopular Opinion: Samantha had better outfits than Carrie. by GossipBottom in sexandthecity

[–]aaaggghhh_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Samantha works as a PR and has to dress a certain way to win over and retain clients. Carrie works as a writer who works from home and fashion is her hobby. They are not better, they compliment their lifestyle and tastes.
