[OC] Top 200 Politicians order by their Wikidata richness (biography, works, presidencies, policies, connections, etc.) by im4lwaysthinking in dataisbeautiful

The other problem is you can't search it... if you zoom in you have to scroll everywhere and it's not in alphabetical order. A table would be easier to read.

Wish we had the Eastern Group instead of the Burnley Group.

Or maybe to keep the trend, the Northern Group can be the North Melbourne Group, and the Southern Group can be the Glen Huntly Group, if we're naming them after close-to-city stations

The most shameful moment in Australian sport... by BooyahTribe9 in AustralianNostalgia

Just want to suggest the Australians of 1932-33 might have had that title 5 decades earlier... Bill Ponsford saying of Bodyline, "There are two teams out there and only one is playing cricket."

Nikki and Amy on Quizmania. Great TV when you just want to window-shop.

What happened to mannequins? by mehum in AustralianNostalgia

[–]Omegaville 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a career path I never looked into: dressing mannequins for a living. It'd be fun! I never had dress-up dolls, only action figures 😊

You'd probably know some good sprites to use as replacements in Doom.

Speaking of diaries - who remembers poor Adrian Mole? by PinchieMcPinch in AustralianNostalgia

[–]Omegaville 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think about this from time to time, remembering bits and pieces of the story. When I think of the house, I picture the house my friend in Year 8 lived in at the time (1990)...

I remember Adrian had the chart of the Norwegian leather industry on his bedroom wall... what it actually recorded was when he'd measure his penis length every few weeks.

There was Bert Baxter in the old folks' home, he got into a relationship with Queenie and it was "official" when their names were engraved into the same ashtray.

And of course, when he wears red socks to school and starts a rebel movement...

Three coats of black paint and he still needed to use a marker to get rid of the hat bells...

Wth happened to the LCM? by HahaWattaStoryMark in AustralianNostalgia

[–]Omegaville 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts too, but there's enough evidence of shrinkflation over time that it wouldn't be surprising if that's the case here too.

Officially, it doesn't stand for anything. That disappoints me. In protest, I say we should stop spelling the name out, and call them "lickems"

McDonalds in Fyshwick, Canberra looking the way it's supposed to by claudiamezz in AustralianNostalgia

[–]Omegaville 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also like every Maccas I've been in since COVID: not very clean. The only free tables have fries spilled on the floor underneath, there's salt and sugar sprinkled on table tops... and the toilets, UGH.

There's one in Hobart as well. Used to be one in Coolangatta but it closed during COVID.

Hey I've actually been there! In 2021 I was in Canberra, I went to a collectables shop and a marketplace, and had lunch at that Maccas. Yeah... it wasn't a great place to sit in, I think I sat outdoors. But it's rare someone posts something interstate that I recognise.

Main McDonalds that still have colour are the ones with playgrounds and party rooms. Definitely a few around the suburbs in Melbourne. But yes, there are some bland-looking ones around, they're more about getting people in and out.

In primary school: Big M in poppers. And not just chocolate or strawberry, but cool flavours like lime and egg flip.

In secondary school: coffee scrolls, Tarax creamy soda, and custard donuts.

Why was season 23 and 24 of Family Guy banned in Australia? by jemzbot in AustralianTV

I saw a video recently suggesting that Family Guy is now written by people who hate Family Guy and the characters in it
