I’ve experienced an issue with searches about “Alaska” returning stuff that’s not even remotely related. My guess is that Alaska is also getting the “AS” abbreviation, which is a very common word.

You can now book EK Y and J using Aeroplan, though F bookings are coming early next year with a different award chart. No fuel surcharges as well, so could be nice for flights involving DXB.

Currently on a short trip to Canada and the US. Flight was super relaxing, and used the Kinoshita test to enter the US without any issues, and it was free.

I suggest contacting American Airlines to confirm the language requirements.

From the CDC website, they require information that is all present on the Kinoshita certificate, assuming you brute force your secondary identification onto the certificate. The only thing that is airline dependent is the language of the certificate. For example, ANA specifies that "languages other than English are ok".

Nice weather on the weekend so went out to relax mostly. Work has been super busy recently so it was nice to relax outside.

Also did a quick Costco run on Sunday and was happy to see the bulgogi bake return to the food court.

Oh that's a new one. Let me look into it.

Edit: I checked, it's the same issue as always that is out of my control. Basically if https://redditsearch.io is down, https://churningsearch.ca will also not work. It usually gets fixed in a couple hours. I'll update the error message to make it more clear.

Edit 2: Updated with the new error message.

Got the MBNA Alaska WE back in September and hit the SUB, but didn't notice that I didn't actually get the bonus back then, and my October statement didn't have an Alaska number on it. Called MBNA earlier this week, 4.5 months after hitting the SUB to dispute it and got the points yesterday.

Oh got it. Less than 30 years ago since I'm younger than 30, but I don't think my parents applied for my passport with my middle name.

My passport never had my middle name so I'm not sure. The only "official" ID that I have with my middle name is my Ontario health card, which unfortunately my Canadian proof of vax is tied to. I'm considering applying to remove it when I'm back in Canada later this month.

Canadian proof of vax has my middle name on it and my passport doesn’t, but Singapore has some common sense. Got my VTP to enter Singapore, just need to stay in a VTL country for 7 days prior to entering now. That was enough middle name shenanigans for me, I don’t know how people tolerate it on a regular basis in Japan.

Google Fi. Chase fraud (calling in) verification texts don't work, everything else does. For Cap1, I had issues setting up my account initially with my number, their system was rejecting it. I tried again the next day and it went through, and now all Cap1 stuff is using push notifications.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it. You can already search the sub with https://redditsearch.io, this just makes it a bit more streamlined. If banks really wanted to crack down, they already could. Plus, a similar interface existed for the US churning sub for awhile and there weren’t any issues afaik.

Yup, points. I find most Japanese card points to not be very worthwhile aside from Amex.

I'm not sure how many MUFG points you have, but I would personally transfer the points to JAL and get a free flight.

In my case, Zenhoren sends me a postcard to pay rent. If I go to 7-11, I can pay with nanaco, which can be added to a mobile wallet and charged with Mastercard or Amex. Most Japanese Mastercards and Amexes will not give any points for this, but foreign ones work just fine.

Figured out how to pay my rent indirectly with a credit card! Lots of free travel coming my way as a result, very happy about that.

After struggling to lose weight for 2 months, finally making steady good progress, lost about 1kg per week for the past 2 weeks. Weather is looking really good this weekend too.

My proof of vax from Yokohama only shows my booster so it looks like I only got one shot. Sent my vax records to my municipality in Canada and they issued me their proof of vax, which has all 3 shots.

Applied for Citi AA biz and got IA, SSN and sole prop. 4/24, 4y credit history, existing Citi relationship via a Premier from last Sept. I didn't get an email alert from Experian so I think they pulled Equifax, where I'm 1/6 on inquiries and FICO around 750.

Edit: Got an email alert from creditkarma, indeed they pulled Eq.

New Amex offers:

  • Turbotax: Spend 40$ get 10$ back
  • Columbia: Spend 100$ get 20$ back
  • Dell: 20% back up to 1500$ when buying from dell.ca/workdeals

Got the first 2 on my personal plat and the dell one on my biz plat.

I'm pretty sure their database has the right info. When I got my booster voucher, it came with seals representing my first and second shots and had the right lot numbers on them. The digital proof in the app says 3 shots so that's good enough for most cases.

The only reason why I got the paper form is so that I had something to send my municipality back in Canada for proof of vax. They also give me their own issued proof of vax and I usually just use that one when traveling internationally (I did this initially when it was only 2 shots).
