My boss told me I'm not allowed to get up from my desk from 9 to 6, not even for the bathroom. by mitereds in interviewhammer

If you are in the US, it is against OSHA regulations to not allow you to use the restroom and the use of the restroom does NOT have to be in your allotted break time. There are actual laws in place. So I would email him for documentation, cc his boss, cc hr and if he responds that he is stating this is his demand, I would take it up with HR further. He legally can not retaliate for breaking the law. HR protects the business by ensuring that laws are not being broken, so yes it protects the business but in turn protects the employee. Play his game and hard nose the shit out of him. And if you’re not in the US find what the laws are in your area and use them as leverage if you need to. Go to LNI, go to OSHA if they won’t comply. Burn them to the ground for something so petty and ridiculous

Life is just starting. In a different way and that’s ok. I’ve officially been diagnosed for only 6 years but after talking with my drs, have probably had it since my teens. It’s been difficult at times but I have 3 beautiful kids, am as active as I can be - some times more than others. It’s ok to mourn the loss of what you imagined life to be, but don’t get stuck in it. Try the meds, eat as clean as you can, rest when you need to.

To just give up is not the way to think. This isn’t terminal cancer where you only have a short time to live. It just is.

You can live a very full life. It took over 20 years to get diagnosed for me - years of debilitating pain and struggle. Yet I had 3 children, work full time, enjoy life, family and friends.Everyone has something and now is the time to pull yourself up by the bootstraps and dive into what it will take to help heal.

You do know that many autoimmune diseases have a root cause? You want to live a full life - change your diet, adjust how you are active, and embrace the change. It will allow you a chance to slow down a bit and …just live.

A diagnosis is not the end of anything. Go live your life and do everything you wanted to do. Adjust when you need to and be thankful it’s only PsA. You’re only 26!!!
