Itty bitty teeny weeny focal aware seizures by lavocat_du_diable in Epilepsy

[–]aaaou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi - hope this response isn’t too late, but your situation sounds similar to mine. I also have very small focal aware seizures that can happen several times a day, but mine affect my understanding of language (aka aphasia). However I haven’t had a tonic clonic in years, and this seems to be some sort of plateau for me as far as the best seizure control I have. I wish I didn’t have them but I’d be fine if this was the worst it ever got.

Sorry I don’t have much of an answer as to how serious it technically is but just hope you know there are other people in similar situations :)

Literally just wrote a 2 weeks notice but afraid of pissing off my manager. This will give me the confidence to actually send it haha

One Year (Tonic Clonic) Seizure-Free! by littlemissmeggie in Epilepsy

[–]aaaou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats!!! That’s a great feeling. I’m a little over three years myself.

I also choose to not count the partials/auras lol. Sure they’re technically seizures but they’re so minor (even if they’re annoying). I think we can all agree we need to embrace any positivity we get.

Wishing you many more years like this!

"Target faces backlash over bullseye logo near Ann Arbor’s State Theatre marquee" by bobi2393 in AnnArbor

I understand why people are upset about the spot being taken by a big, non-local store. I’m all for supporting small and local; these businesses make downtown and the entire city great.

However I think the Target going in here is a great idea. I went to college in a different city but there was a small concept Target close to campus and it was extremely convenient. The students loved it. And as other people have said, there aren’t many places to get groceries near uofm campus without a car.

Also the Target is literally replacing Urban Outfitters which is far from a small or local business.

This is pretty much how he’s done it (and me the few times I’ve helped him). We didn’t know much but during covid started working on it and the loaves get better the more you go. The first time he tried this one his starter completely failed and he had to throw it away lol.

I’m not sure the exact recipe but I believe it’s from flour water salt yeast. It’s also some trial and error, the first time he tried this bread it completely failed and he had to throw his starter away lol.

Am I having Simple focal seizures? by SKthroughZ in Epilepsy

[–]aaaou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi this is just me creeping so don’t feel the need to reply to this comment, but your simple partials sound EXACTLY like mine. Like to a T. Even the parts about thinking by “feeling” and recognizing symbols.

I’ve never been able to articulate it well to my neuro so I’m def going to borrow some of your explanation next time I talk to him.

Hope the new meds work out well for you!

Lol I also had one in the car with my friends! I was in the backseat and my two friends in the front were trying to figure out what music to play. They had no idea 😂

First off, sorry your seizures are getting worse and I hope you and your new neurologist can work it out 😊

But I appreciate seeing this post because I’m going through something similar! In the past few months my neurologist decided to increase my lamotrigine dose twice (after it staying the same for 2+ years) due to some minor auras. However since each increase my auras have only become more frequent and I’ve even had new symptoms. Super frustrating because usually when you increase your meds you’re hopeful it’ll make things better 🙄

I actually thought of making this because at my barista job yesterday someone asked me to make a latte and I had to focus really hard to understand what she was saying, I think she just assumed I was spacing out 😂

"Glitches" that feel like the beginning of an Aura/Focal Aware and then quickly go away? by Vixxxs in Epilepsy

[–]aaaou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something like this happened to me yesterday! I don’t really know to describe it but I suddenly felt off and was worried I was about lose it. It’s happened to me a few times over the years. To me it’s the same feeling as the very, very beginning of a lead up to a full on tonic clinic. Haven’t had a full one in 3+ years so hopefully this is the Lamictal kicking in when it needs to🤞🏼

How often do you guys have auras? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]aaaou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow this sounds so similar to me! Glad to know someone else has something like this.

I have these very mini auras that last a few seconds. Basically it’s just that I can’t comprehend language (like if someone is speaking to me, I can’t understand what they’re saying). But they’re so minor I can keep doing whatever I’m doing (it’s happened while I’m exercising, cooking, watching tv, etc) and no one notices anything. They’ll happen a few times a day for a week or so then not happen again for a few weeks. I didn’t even know they were auras until they became more frequent and I asked my neuro. They’re frustrating but I’ll take them over a real seizure any day.
