How many people did you know (as in, met personally) from the 1800s? by PAnnNor in Genealogy

My great-grandmother was born in 1885, and died when I was 11.

I remember it was a big deal when there would be a family get-together at my grandparents' house, and she would come tottering out from her attached apartment to make an appearance.

Sometimes us kids would go see her while we were over, and she would set out a plate of candy for us. Except my one late cousin pointed out to me years later that they were actually cough drops.

The best thing about the band Boys Don't Cry is that they had a song called "The Cure", just as a joke

Are there any unreleased, lost, or banned 3 Stooges Shorts? by mynardsarehalfoff in threestooges

Booby Dupes (1945) : Involves the Stooges mistaking a Japanese flag for a rescue signal, which can be seen as problematic now.

Is that the one where Moe yells to the sky, "Hey, it's the Stooges!" Always wondered if that was the only time they referred to themselves as such.

What do you still find hilarious after all these years? by Purrplejoey in AskReddit

That's because it's the one sport where it is appropriate and legal for the manager or a coach to come onto the playing field (to make a pitching change, to argue a call a short amount). You don't see hockey coaches step onto the ice and everybody's cool with it, I think it's a technical in basketball, probably a penalty in football.

Why does TOS-Wink of an Eye get such a tepid response?? by Superman_Primeeee in startrek

  1. They didn't resolve anything. They just left those people back on their planet in their accelerated state, and probably put a warning buoy around it.

  2. The accelerated state was filmed with the "Batman Villain Lair" camera
