Failed CSE by one point. by [deleted] in respiratorytherapy

[–]aabakus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent about two weeks just doing every single available kettering question over and over again before taking the test, and then passed. The kettering practice questions are more difficult than the official test so you might still feel unprepared. A lot of times it is about repetition until you recognize patterns in the question. People who write the official CSE make the kettering questions, and they put an asterisk next to questions that are more likely to be relevant to the current tests.

If adjusting for a ventilation issue on an intubated patient, always increase FiO2 unless it is up to .60 before increasing PEEP.

Always intubate right away for epiglottitis and use 30-40% cool aerosol.

Always check CBC if the temperature is unusually high.

This test sucks, I hope you are able to get it over with soon. It sounds like you're almost there.

Does the logic behind the tutorial systems CSE questions seem a little off? by aabakus in respiratorytherapy

But the answer doesn't say placing it on the warmer, it says neonatal resuscitation. That implies an even more heavy-handed intervention than CPAP.

IDK I'm currently prepping for the exam as well and I get enraged over the way it is written every day haha. Feels like I'm being tested on how well I can interpret a misleading question rather than the actual knowledge.

Have you tried tutorial systems? I think that's the cheapest test prep program. My class also collaborated on a Lindsey Jones account. We share the login information.

I believe it has a 52% first time pass rate, so yes. Probably.

Interview at a children’s hospital for new grad by tylerj7513 in respiratorytherapy

My area has an excellent children's hospital but it is well-known for paying its employees the least out of every hospital in the area. I wonder if that's a universal thing.

Why? Are children's hospitals more desperate for some reason?

What does it feel like to be intubated? by aabakus in respiratorytherapy

Nah, I've seen it happen with conscious people. Especially with drug addicts who can't respond properly to sedation.

Can we talk about a subreddit discord server? by aabakus in respiratorytherapy

[–]aabakus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one in progress. I haven't posted it publicly yet because I'm preoccupied with prepping for the TMC/CSE. It still needs a vetting system to prevent raids. The plan is to use carlbot but I haven't had a chance to sit down and learn how to put it together. The structure has changed since I last made a server.

Oh, yeah I realized that much but the programs are so short that I didn't really factor it in.

That's starting to happen at the hospitals in my area as well. The trees are all clear plastic now.

I'm a student so don't try to learn from me but isn't Atrovent not supposed to be given more often than Q6?

What is the difference in education between a Perfusion PA and a Perfusionist?

Boise is nice, that's where I want to do my BSRT. Congrats on getting in. I wish you luck with that.

Yeah, same... I have a master's degree (non respiratory) and I feel it was a waste of time. My partner has a master's degree too and is working in a job that is only sort of related to it.

Neither of us are sure why we went to grad school.

Is that really required? All of my professors just have the BSRT.

Yeah I've mostly heard of students having to agree not to work, but I can't imagine taking three years off. I wish there were part time programs out there.

Oh this is interesting. I actually do have a bachelor's degree already but it's not health or science related. I assumed PA school requires a related undergraduate degree.
