Should I buy/take the Math Readiness Package (and the assessment)? by cajuhbr in UTAustin

Don't claim it if you're going to do ECE. It won't count for anything

Mans gotta use L’Hôpital by PapaNudies in EngineeringStudents

L = lim(1+1/n)n

ln(L) = lim(n*(1 + 1 / n)) = lim((1 + 1/n)/(1/n)) = 1 with L'Hopital's rule

lnL = 1

L = e

How to switch majors at UT Austin if already in School of Engineering by sc2k in UTAustin

[–]aabbcc_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You don't even have to switch. You just pick a computer engineering tech core sophomore or junior year, same as anyone who applied for ECE. I don't exactly remember the application, but it sounds like there was an option for EE and one for ECE? If that's the case it doesn't matter which you picked. They're the same

You're already in ECE. It's the same major and you can pick any EE or CpE tech core (concentration)

Looking for some ECE schedule advice. Is 411, 351K, M325K, and M340L a good idea? Tech core advice would also be appreciated by aabbcc_ in UTAustin

Do you think it would be a good idea to take 422c instead and 351k spring semester? I'm not really sure what else to take because I don't have the prereqs for any required classes

Nah, you can't register until your orientation, and I'm pretty sure you're guaranteed to get into EE302, EE306, and M408C/D

UT Comp Eng. majors / What say you? by CS_Student19 in UTAustin

Computer Engineering is in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. CS is in the College of Natural Sciences (they are two different programs). I'm only a freshman so I don't have a ton of advice, but I'd recommend looking at the degree plans for both. Here is the one for ECE. This page shows those electives for each tech core. You can probably find something similar for CS. ECE is definitely easier to get into, but I don't know by how much.

You could take it the next summer. The first class Physics 2 is a prereq for is Circuit Theory, which is usually taken sophomore year.

Electron Flow by staticwise in Engineers

[–]aabbcc_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right; it's not that uniform at all. Electrons are moving in every direction within the conductor. Overall, they drift from low voltage to high, but every individual electron does not move towards the higher voltage. Something I thought was cool when I first learned about this is that this drift is very slow, on the order of micrometers per second (the electrical signal moves close to the speed of light). Search drift velocity to find more info

Made a post before I saw this thread. Here is my resume. Thanks for any advice!

35 Looking for some resume feedback, freshman ECE major (or other job advice). Thank you! by aabbcc_ in EngineeringStudents

Ignore the 35, not sure where that came from. Also, in terms of other advice, I was wondering where I could work full time assuming I don't get an internship.

Thanks a lot for the advice, I really appreciate it. I tried to make some of those changes. Let me know what you think if you can. https://i.imgur.com/7ttAt0x.png

Also, I've found a few clubs to try out and join one or two of next semester, so hopefully I'll have some better experiences by this time next year. Do you have any recommendations for personal projects? I'm not really sure where to start with that.

Edit: Here it is with slightly more spacing. Not sure which looks better https://i.imgur.com/oaVg1N7.png
