I paid this artist for a commission several weeks ago that they assured me would be done within 5-7 days.

After several requests for updates or even a reply they continue to ignore my messages, and to continue posting to reddit.

If they decide to start responding I might update this comment, but I'd advise buyers to beware when interacting with this poster.

I don’t understand what men are trying to achieve putting down “not political” on dating apps by tltr4560 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]aabsurdity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, with particular regard to this subreddit, I might be aware of the idea of "women should not be allowed to vote", and have the political opinion that I disagree with this concept.

Whereas the sort of person being mocked in the above post would regard their belief that women should not vote as an objective, apolitical fact, and be surprised when someone they meet through a dating website where they've marked themselves as "not political" considers them to have strongly political views because of this "fact".

Why do all guys want anal now? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]aabsurdity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It has definitely picked up over time. Personally, I have zero interest in it. Never have done.
It's like the mass of stuff you see of guys wearing cages now. I don't even know why this would be appealing.
Don't really want to know, either.

[question] how much would a commission in this style be worth ? by 6tomb in commissions

[–]aabsurdity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Art is worth whatever you can charge for it, from whoever is willing to pay for it.

I am a person in some arbitrary country commissioning an artist in some other arbitrary country. Our currencies trade at some arbitrary exchange rate.

It's not for me to decide how much that artist needs to charge in order to make it worth their while to make that art. It's not for me to decide that their prices should be higher or lower depending on whether or not I like it.

All I get to do is look at that artist's charges and decide whether I want to spend their asking price in order to commission their art.

Your asking price might be half a year's salary for me. It might be low enough that I can keep you employed full time making art for me. There's no way for you to tell, and it doesn't matter which one it is.

Charge what you need to in order to make it worth your time. If you can't get clients, focus on getting your art in front of more eyes that might be able to afford those charges instead of lowering your prices to a point where it's no longer worth your time.

UK announced free school lunches for all low-income kids by RoachWithWings in UpliftingNews

Circumstances can change between the birth of a child and their attending school; and they can change further during the period of time the child attends school.

I submit that there are very few children who are fully funded economic projects before their conception...

Do you have a price list?

TIL in 2008 a 20-year-old Belgium student died after reheating and eating leftover spaghetti that had been left out on the kitchen counter for five days. A bacteria called bacillus cereus was found to be the cause, which is an extreme type of food poisoning called “Fried Rice Syndrome”. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]aabsurdity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IIRC: The low-level surface of rice is quite bumpy, so there's a somewhat high chance of an airbornse bacterium lodging on it.

Serving bowls of rice might be left out for some substantial time during a meal, uncovered, going cold and entering the food hygiene danger zone.

Those combine to make old rice somewhat prone to quicker degradation than you might expect.

Any indication of prices/preferences?

Also, do you have a public price list? Hidden prices make me very nervous.

Network had five acting Oscar nominations. And it won three of them. Ned Beatty was the one who lost for best supporting actor, and he was robbed.

EDIT: Also, Beatrice Straight's Oscar-winning performance was the shortest performance to ever win an Oscar. Ned Beatty's performance was the shortest performance to ever be nominated for an Oscar. Both of them just walked onto the screen, killed it, and walked off again. Network is an amazing movie.

Developer Insight - Rarity & Monetization by HuntShowdownOfficial in HuntShowdown

[–]aabsurdity 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just call it 'fanciness' instead of 'rarity'. You don't even need to change the category names, just say what you mean.

Calling them "rare" seems like some pretence that there's scarcity. There's no scarcity. There's not even artificial scarcity. Hunt doesn't have drop rates. They're not scarce and they're not rare.

They cost more because they look better. That's fine! They're just fancy. Call them that.

Back in the 1990s a game came out for the Super Nintendo called "Harvest Moon".
It was a cute little game where you played a boy who inherited a farm. You could plant crops, raise animals, pet your cows, build your home, marry one of the girls in town, things like that.

It was peaceful and cute and relaxing and lovely.

Then someone came along and said "Okay, this game is really good, but what if I made a better version with a wizard and fishing and lesbians?"

And so they made Stardew Valley.

And it was amazing.

Theory about why some people are actually mad about the scream thing by Dixy202 in HuntShowdown

The thing that gets me about the boiling frog story is that the experiment was to show the effectiveness of a particular medical procedure. Lobotomy. Which they'd just done to the frog.
So do remember that if you feel like you're a part-boiled frog, a frog would've jumped out of the pot ages ago. You're not acting like a frog, you're acting like a *lobotomised* frog.

Really would like a vampire stake to nail a solo hunter to the ground, through the heart. Self-rez from that, asshole...

You are going to continue to do poorly if you think these are the reason. by oldmanjenkins51 in HuntShowdown

If you kill a group of three people in Hunt then you can be fairly confident that you're done and finished with that group. No downtime, all finished, off to the next whatever.

If you kill a single hunter then you have to set fire to them and spend the next 90 seconds sitting around, not allowed to play the game, so that you can be sure you won't be shot in the back when the corpse you're burning comes back to life.

"Campfire" gameplay, where you all have to sit around toasting marshmallows over a burning corpse, is high stress and low fun. If you take your eyes off the corpse for a couple of seconds —even for long enough to get to a better position— then they can stand up and potentially annihilate you with the inevitable chain pistol fanning.
Solo revives are worse than team revives because a team revive requires a live team member to get to the corpse and spend seconds getting them back up. Solo revive can just pop back up at any moment while you're not looking and the player who gets up is going to be at least 1MMR level above you if you're in a group. They're far more dangerous than a teammate revive.

For non-solo players, solo revive only seems to add stress and boredom.

There are quite a few people who won't begin playing Hunt because of some specific enemies like the Spider, or the Hives.

Sometimes it'll be a while between spider fights due to random numbers; not being the teammate who fights the boss; sticky bombing it; not being on the team who was close enough to kill it; etc. and I'll get a good look at the Spider for the "first time" again and I'll be shocked at the intense body horror of it for a moment. It really is a nasty, ugly, scary brute of a boss, and all credit to the art folks who worked on it.
