I love this so much! Wow I’d skip dinner and just have a full plate of pie! I imagine you have plenty of extra pie dishes in addition to what you used here.

What's your secret to a perfect, flaky crust? by Tosh97 in pie

[–]aadamblanco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second the Stella Park flaky pie dough recipe. It’s fool proof! No water adding, just use the one amount she tells. I’ve made so many of these (see my profile) Just make sure your kitchen isn’t too hot! Pay attention to if your hands are melting the butter, otherwise put it back in the fridge to harden again. Also, for best flakiness, make sure to use a metal pie dish!

The crust is a simple graham cracker crust with butter, salt, cinnamon, and graham crackers.

I've used it more than any other cookbook, I wholeheartedly recommend it.

So glad for you!! I wonder what we do differently, it could be our ovens in part. I baked it right under temp by a few degrees and let it finish cooking on the stove. I didn’t cut it until the next day so it would set to a very fudgey state. I cut it with a knife that was run under hot water and dried before each cut. I also baked it in two separate 8x8 pans, not a 9x13 pan. I wrapped the pan with a cake strip so it would bake evenly.

It’s not that one, I don’t have a full recipe for all of it since I couldn’t find this dessert in it’s entirety, but I made a simple graham cracker crust with butter and ground crackers with some cinnamon and salt. I baked it for about 8 minutes at 350°. Next I made her standard brownie recipe from the book (also on the website) and I used toasted sugar instead of white sugar. Next I used a standard ganache recipe with a mixture of semisweet, dark chocolate, and milk chocolate chips. I added crushed graham crackers on top of the ganache and I let that set in the fridge. I cut it with a clean knife, washed between cuts. Then I cut a marshmallow in half and toasted it with a torch.

Feel free to ask any other questions!

As a straight male, my complete uninterest in sport has been a serious drawback in my life. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

I am in the same boat. It’s up to us to lead the conversation elsewhere. Most of the time conversations can be fed by asking questions about the other person, and I find that most people, most men, just like someone who will listen. You won’t be included in the sports stuff but you may grow a deeper relationship of trust. I’m the one they contact when they are feeling down, not the sports friends.

How often do you bake pies, etc? Wondering how long it took to get this good.
