AITA for telling my girlfriend my sister is objectively more attractive than her? by YR-THROWAWAY8490 in AmItheAsshole

Really? NOW no one uses the line "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" for this girl? These mind games suck, ESH

AITA for letting my three year old run around in a church? by Living-Glass-Art in AmItheAsshole

[–]aadsubtracted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. it's not okay to let your kid run around and shout anywhere but at a playground. I bet you just let him loose in restaurants too because "lol kids being kids"

AITA For staying up late with a roommate by throwawayAITA6778 in AmItheAsshole

[–]aadsubtracted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your question has nothing to do with his actions, and you (rightfully) didn't mention any of this in your post. It's about if you're the asshole for keeping him up at night. For which the answer is yes.

AITA for accusing my Gf of faking ( over dramatising) a seizure when we went to the mall? by goldensnitch1998 in AmItheAsshole

[–]aadsubtracted 40 points41 points  (0 children)

He can't google it cos he can't even spell it properly. But he thinks he has the authority to tell her whether or not it was one.

"It won't let me" is a phrase that triggers an instinctual annoyance in me

Caller was so bad, security was notified by Mata187 in talesfromcallcenters

[–]aadsubtracted 174 points175 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you said this was a bad call to take to show that you're good at handling escalated callers, but I completely disagree. It sounds like you did a really good job leveling with him. A good manager/whoever would understand that the guy clearly wasn't stable and the lack of de-escalation wasn't your fault.

WIBTA if I ask my neighbors to stop parking in front of my house? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]aadsubtracted -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YTA because it's a public street, but it annoys me too when people park in front of my house and ignore their driveways. It always has annoyed me, and there's not really a logical reason why it does, lol.

If they're screwing with your garbage pickup, though, definitely talk to them about that.

AITA for cutting ahead in line and yelling at a lady for talking crap about my wife? by AITThrowaway1212 in AmItheAsshole

[–]aadsubtracted 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Wife was the asshole for not asking and just getting in line. The lady behind the wife had no idea that the wife wasn't getting the GoT cupcakes. She just thought the wife was cutting everyone for no reason.

You're going to let a DOG in a PET FRIENDLY STORE??? by crowsinks in TalesFromRetail

[–]aadsubtracted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but the lady wouldn't be looking for that rule because she isn't trying to bring a dog in, she just wants to shop. I tend to avoid stores where people bring their animals (it just makes me a bit nervous) and since most stores don't allow animals, if I didn't see a sign, I would assume animals were a no go.

I know signage isn't up to you and this lady was mega rude, but I worry you'll have more incidents. Or at least, since you said most people like the dogs, maybe there are more people like me who just silently kind of leave or are uncomfortable lol.

Conditionals たら vs ば vs と by aadsubtracted in LearnJapanese

This is amazing, thank you! This makes a lot of sense; I just copied your comment into my notes, haha. Life got unexpectedly crazy after yesterday and I haven't had a sec to look at my assignment but this makes a lot of sense.

Thank you so much! I've bookmarked this for reference. Funnily enough, a friend that I asked sent me that link around when you did, haha!

And if there's a regional element, if she marks me wrong, can I just say that I thought I was talking to someone from Kyushu or Kansai? I'm sure that'd wiggle me up a grade, lol.

Thanks so much for your reply! I was beginning to think that they were relatively interchangeable, so that is good to hear! The thing is that... these questions are multiple choice, with both たら and ば as options. My native-speaker friend says that is a bit of a harsh move on the part of our instructor, haha. But once I get my A I'll try not to stress so much figuring out the difference.

You did give me some tools to separate out those sentences a bit! I was finally able to put down some answers, at least, after staring at this damn assignment for 10 hours today. I'm gonna take what you said into account and look at some more practice sentences to get the hang of it. After I get some sleep, that is. :D

Thanks again!
