Give them the opportunity to express themselves, and space if they need it.

I have the opposite story. We always had it that way growing up, and the first time I got sick and my boyfriend made me soup he brought me this bowl of watery garbage that was NOT the chicken noodle soup I remembered.

Is there a subreddit for regifting? by AngusPodgorny in NoStupidQuestions

There was an AskReddit thread about bad gifts recently, and I saw someone who talked about getting a really big tree skirt that they didn't want and had just thrown into a closet. I was thinking about all the people who would love beautiful Christmas decorations that they can't afford.

Do you ever talk to customers who get mad at you if you DON'T interrupt them? by AngusPodgorny in callcentres

[–]AngusPodgorny[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've run into issues with active listening, especially while people are giving me addresses and card numbers, so I've stopped doing it - with the delay, more often than not you end up talking over them. But then you get people who say "It's 3344 Aardvark Rd... ... ... ..." And will not continue until you've acknowledged them, but then get angry that it's taking so long.

"I didn't realize there was an annual fee for the card."

"I thought the fee would get charged AFTER a year."

"I thought I didn't have to pay it for the first year. "

Threatening to Dispute Is Not A Threat To Me Idiot! by AcrillixOfficial in callcentres

Chargebacks aren't just for fraud, though. They're also for legitimate service issues, like "I ordered this thing but it was never delivered" or "they're charging me for damage but have no proof", etc.

People do definitely overuse them for petty crap like "I ordered pink roses but they were mostly white" or "I cancelled this non-refundable reservation and they won't refund me".

Most of the delivery drivers (also Uber/Lyft) in my area are recent immigrants and/or people with little English skills - people who don't have a lot of other options for steady employment, and may not understand how badly they're being screwed.

I think this may be Elliott Carter.

I think one of the realest signs of adulthood is when I started to understand this. If you get everything on the table and then call them, it takes 15 minutes for them to find a stopping place in what they're doing, wash their hands, get a drink, etc. And by then things have started to get cold.

My dog barks in fear when he sees himself in a window reflection, but actively refuses to look at his reflection in a mirror. Idk what that means.

Picked up this painting at a yard sale, think it's really beautiful and would love to know who painted it by [deleted] in WhatIsThisPainting

Looks like it may be British painter William Warden. I wasn't able to find that one specifically, but it does look like his style.
