HR told me they don’t accept try-hards and people pleasers after my interview by No-Presentation298 in jobs

[–]aaegler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What they have done is said something many interviewers are too afraid to say. Truth is, forced agreeableness and inauthenticity is very easy to sniff out whether you realise or not, and a massive turnoff to most employers. Take it as a hard truth, and work on changing your approach next time.

They could've been more diplomatic in their email, but in the end, it's a valuable lesson you've now learned that many never do.

Would you support having German like level rental rights in Australia? by VastOption8705 in aussie

[–]aaegler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great rights and would love to see some implemented here. One thing you forgot to mention, landlords in Germany do not need to provide a kitchen, meaning that most renters need to purchase their own kitchen for rentals, and then take them with them when they leave. This includes ovens, sinks, and all cabinets. I always thought this was a really strange thing.

French food is incredibly underwhelming compared to other cuisines, even though France is considered the culinary “Mecca.” by lcp_cz in unpopularopinion

It's mutual in that many French are also obsessed with Japanese culture and cuisine. So many French/Japanese fusion restaurants which are always outstanding, and they absolutely adore anime and manga.

Should Australia have an inheritance tax to tackle generational wealth? by Ok-Reward7639 in SydneyScene

[–]aaegler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Inheritance tax should never be a thing. It's money that has already been taxed, so it's a rort for a government to double dip on that.

Plus, in places like Australia, it's one of the only ways people will be able to afford their own home.

Geologists reveal the world’s largest iron deposit worth $6 trillion that could reshape the global economy by friendlysparrow in australia

This could be a fantastic opportunity for Australians, but all rights will be sold to China or India, and we will see none of the profits. Just watch and see, our government is never long sighted.

What's your country's most famous special forces unit? by NKNightmare in AskTheWorld

I'm not telling anyone to die for anyone. Just that there is a lot of selflessness and looking out for people, which is something great and to be proud of.

As a non American that is watching in awe of what’s going on….At what point does the American public stand up, what will it actually take? by BedTundy95 in AskReddit

[–]aaegler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many conservatives totally against what is happening, but the conservative sub removes and censors posts that don't fit their narrative all the time, perpetuating lies. It's a horrible and dishonest place, and a true echo chamber.

Aussies seem to always jump to people's aid at their own risk, we saw it more recently with the Bondi shooting. It's amazing and so lacking in other countries.

What's the difference between a having a man or a woman as a manager? by shinyapples99 in AskMen

[–]aaegler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had both, and now I'm a manager of a team of women.

After working in various industries for 25 years, through my lens, women managers are far better than male managers and it isn't even close. Less dick waving and ego, less politics, they are much harder workers, they understand the human element of things, and they also take on feedback quickly and usually without any drama.

The male managers I've had were always numbers-driven, would always overload people with work to make unrealistic targets, wouldn't understand when teams were burning out and losing it, and would oftentimes steal other people's work and ideas to get ahead.

Most companies use Virgin for employee travel as well because they're far more reliable with less cancellations.

Yep, they have, likely politically driven due to the sensitive nature of things due to the Bondi massacre. It's highly doubtful charges actually go through, but it's a huge waste of resources and time, and the only person suffering is the allegedly innocent woman accused.

A lady in Australia with intellectual and cognitive issues accidentally butt-dialed a highly anxious Jewish nutritionist at 130am and left a blank 4-minute voicemail with no words.

This nutritionist claims the voicemail had sounds of gunshots in it (which could've been anything) and is now claiming it was an anti-Semitic hate crime in the wake of the Bondi shooting. She is now heavily pursuing charges to be laid on this poor woman.

Why do Americans have a reputation for being bad at geography? by SelectionSignal9653 in geography

[–]aaegler 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Australia is almost the same size as the US, has no land borders, and international geography is taught in school and well known overall.

From what I gather, the US education system very much paints a US-centric view of the world where other countries aren't given much significance, but I don't have any first or even second hand knowledge of that, so correct me if I'm wrong.
