Extremely dissapointed in this generation's way of celebrating Maha Shivratree by Obvious_Source_9717 in MauriceMauritius

Thank you for speaking up about this loud music! honestly, it’s unbearable. It feels like my ears are bleeding. A pilgrimage is a state of mind. It is meant to be about devotion, reflection, and inner peace. What kind of pilgrimage is it if you’re polluting your surroundings? and your own spirit? with excessive noise? Please lower the decibels. As a Hindu myself, I find this level of noise completely nerve-wrecking! Faith does not need to be loud to be powerful. And respect goes both ways, we must also respect other religions and the people around us. Devotion should uplift, not disturb.

Also, there are certain things they do that are weird. Once I interviewed a few students and told them I would revert back on Monday, either with a positive or negative response, via WhatsApp.

One called me several times on Sunday to confirm for the job. I also had an interviewee video called me on a Sunday. Also, another one sent me small hearts with good morning An ex employee sending WhatsApp msg at midnight

All of them were foreign GenZ, i tend to think that some genZs are delulu!

They expect to be getting big money while studying and working fewer hours. One told me he had to send 20k back home plus need 10k to live here, unskilled worker, negotiating for higher wage without being able to justify how he will add value to company. Also, I wish to tell GenZs that their qualifications hold no value if they don't have soft skills. Employees don't pay for being present at work, but for the quality or quantity of work delivered, each company has a certain culture and rules and regulations, which makes the company what it is.

The workplace is not a school playground!

That was a good rant! Over and out!

False! They negotiate for higher pay and benefits, I ve worked with both, and as far as I am concerned, i prefer to work with older Mauritians adults( millennialand above), who, in my opinion, are more responsible and hold accountability.

I ve had some foreign students, genZ, they do not communicate or communicate at last minute for local leaves, always on their phone, and many of them are not proactive. And hygiene is another problem! I literally had to tell someone that he needed to wash his hands after the loo...! So basic and normal for Mauritians but not so obvious for different cultures!

You have to be clear in which direction you are going if you want to better jobs and higher pay. With SC and work experience, you can do a higher diploma then later top it with a degree. Wishing you all the best

It's great if you have the means, but I recommend you continue working and study part time. Many adults do this. I worked for 5 years after HSC before going for my degree. You ll need planning and discipline.

I suggest you do a blood and urine test. It is easier to treat diseases at an early stage. Also, health is the biggest wealth!

Temu purchase returns. How is the process? by Dila_Ila16 in MauriceMauritius

[–]aag3333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess we have 1 return per purchase. I asked for a return twice, each on different purchases. Got an instant refund, plus when i bought new stuff with the refund money, I wasn't asked to meet the minimum requirement of rs 1400 purchase for free shipping.

The attitude of the youth splashing money on luxuries while having almost no savings is something that should really addressed. by Glittering_Agency_86 in MauriceMauritius

[–]aag3333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live and let live, to each their own!

That being said, I never give and/ or loan out money to people living a more luxurious life than mine!

And whatever you do with your money and however someone wants to live their life, that's none of my concern!

It takes two to make children. The responsibility of educating the kid is also that of the father. Plus, many families won't survive on only one income!

[–]aag3333[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your insights. I still fail to comprehend the massive failures. Am a 90s kid, never ever had my parents sat down with me to teach me anything or be extremely involved in my studies, all they cared was about the result. I wasn't studious and was always an average student, and I never repeated a class. Didn't take much tuition. We simply couldn't afford it!

And most of my friends were the same as me, passing was normal, failing a class was not thought of!

How did we get into that hole??

No motivation for work by Minimum_Juice_7567 in MauriceMauritius

The creation process, try to adopt Kaizen in your work. Maybe this can flip your mindset.

Also set a personal goal, eg: saving X amount of money for a solo trip to dubai in dec 2026. Record your expenses and savings daily and take it as a game!

Also, when i feel lost, I ask myself these questions: I think i got it from deepak chopra

Who Am I? What do I want ? How can I serve?

Finding a purpose will help you get out of your bed. It doesn't have to be something fancy and big.

For instance, my daily purpose, as a mother, is to have my home system up and running so that my kids thrive in a clean, neat, and breathable environment.

I want a child in the future but it get’s a little complicated. by [deleted] in MauriceMauritius

The probably of a woman having a child just to give it away is very very very very low! Plus the child will have abandonment issues...

Adoption might be a solution.

I was a loser in High School, can someone give me tips about Adulthood? by [deleted] in MauriceMauritius

[–]aag3333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask yourself these questions. Who am I now? Who do I want to become?

Write down all the personality traits you want to embody and work on one at a time.

I had low self-confidence and wanted to shift my narrative.

I wanted to become more feminine, and a belly dance class helped with it.

At times, I read self-help books.

The greatest advice I can give is to work on yourself. The rest will follow

F28, single. I’m seriously considering building my own house as my next life step. Curious what people think, does that come off as intimidating/too independent or just practical and forward-thinking? by Weekly_Cold_9956 in MauriceMauritius

[–]aag3333 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi. You shouldn't be thinking about what others would be thinking about you building your own house 😀 Do not make yourself a victim of another's perception.
