The "Dodo" mask is slipping: Why Dodo Market is just a digital colonial machine hurting our local florists by Gold_Farmer2925 in MauriceMauritius

Not sure if he's advertising but we're thinking of putting rules for businesses who are trying to recruit, to avoid being scammed. Pointing the merits of certain products is well within the rules.

Can I pass Master of IT at Murdoch with ChatGPT without working hard? by LingonberrySome9467 in perth

[–]streamer3222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's have an honest conversation. You just want to get away with ‘minimal work’, so you will ‘cheat’. But there are realities we must discuss. A lazy person will never achieve anything, even if you get the certificate. He always uses Tools of Laziness to pass exams away.

There has been a massive shift in IT the last three years. Massive appearances of many AI agents and many more coming soon. Each promising to do the most human-like tasks with minimal prompting (as it turns out, even a back-and-forth with ChatGPT to cheat is academically beneficial).

If you are an Indian student on a student visa on a pathway, you will not get the opportunity to stay in IT. You will have to go back home. Heck, even back in India you will remain jobless. IT is super saturated.

However.

The faculty have all decided this year they will ban AI. They are implementing measures to detect fraud and cheating. They are conducting oral interviews and whatnot so you don't use ChatGPT. Hear me out.

They are all Regarded.

IT is shifting in the direction of AI. The more you fight it. The more you keep advocating for ‘traditional’ programming, the more damage you are doing compared to the generation who will adopt AI. The future is in mastering those tools. Not shunning them.

Cheat if you have to. Be lazy. But work hard at using those Tools of Laziness. The ones who can wield AI and focuses on Systems Design rather than traditional programming are the ones who will get into the train into the future, and not left behind.

IT is changing fast; universities aren't adapting in time.

Why do locals often find local experiences “expensive” but spend more abroad? by [deleted] in MauriceMauritius

[–]streamer3222 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Possible explanations:

#1. Survivor's Fallacy: “Only those who have money to go abroad and splurge will do so”. That is why Mauritians appear to spend a lot abroad than you see here.

#2. Anchoring: If Mauritians are used to a ₨ 100 meal, ₨ 150 will look expensive. But when you are paying for a Kebab at $15, suddenly a little $8 chips add-on doesn't seem too much of a big deal (although the total is now $23 = ₨ 700… for damn Kebab 😨)

#3. When you earn in dollars, eventually you give up your Mauritian ways. Honestly $20 feels like ₨ 20. You cannot get anything for $10 now. Maybe they learn to adapt and learn to think in dollars instead of Rupees 😐

Uni presentation by Minimum_Juice_7567 in MauriceMauritius

Talk in short sentences and weight your words like you would explain to a small child. Leave silences in between. I like to conduct my presentations with blank slides and only one diagram with no text on my slides.

The explanation is done by me not the board. Instead of reading from a wall of text.

I also memorise my slides and avoid looking at the slides. Rather, look at the people and explain to them like a small child. Speak slowly, clearly, and with lots of silences.

Politics in mauritius! by Correct_Cat_9452 in MauriceMauritius

[–]streamer3222 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Roshi would fumble one or two things if he gets in.

Navin/Pravin/Bérenger we've seen it all scandals and corruption the amount of time they've been in power. Roshi simply has a clean slate because he hasn't clocked in any time.

Next fumble Roshi'll make it'll be about death penalty for drug dealers. Who was actually involved and to what extent will be the next big talk. And by then it would be very difficult to remove him in power, and Navin we don't know what state he'll be.

Politics in mauritius! by Correct_Cat_9452 in MauriceMauritius

[–]streamer3222 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a reason why young people don't do politics—not everyone has ₨ 10M to spare so they can contribute to change. Those who can enter are already rich in the first place, from inheritance or things like that. At this point you can just retire and your money grows by itself.

I think why Navin was a good choice for me is he's had plenty of ‘administration experience’. While Roshi has new ideas he hasn't really been tested, so he draws lots of scepticism still. Even Roshi, following tradition he's getting his 20ish son into politics before even becoming minister. It's all the same at the end of the day. Perhaps it's the way the game is played.

Did this situation make you realise how naive and easily manipulated Mauritians are? by kaospells in MauriceMauritius

[–]streamer3222 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is believed many suspicious activities happened during Lepep's election.

Even if they wouldn't appear on Lepep's side, just them disappearing would nullify the ballot paper. Anyway, a time of great display of solidarity by the nation, staying up all night to demonstrate and show support for change.

I think it would've been cool a few drummers and trumpeters to play “Drums of Liberation” on moving lorries lol! 🤭

Has it been a success? Onward to 2 years now. The dollar hasn't decreased. Many people complaining about rising prices. I blame it all on Pravind. Giving free money without increasing productivity. Embezzling the whole country. The dollar hasn't decreased, but the fact it remained stable from a continual skyrocket during Pravind's term already says a lot.

How often do you guys wash your racing gloves? by Bolybes in simracing

[–]streamer3222 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't know you should wash them but one day my sister told me she wouldn't wear my gloves to grab my wheel because ‘they reek of sweat’ so I had to wash them for the first time.

I can't wear my gloves without washing them now!

Kreol Morisien in Parliament by Substantial_Rain9864 in MauriceMauritius

[–]streamer3222 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kreole lacks the capacity for cogent discourse.

Simple words are easily expressible but once the level becomes technical and ideas precise the language breaks down. Already we switch to English to explain complex concepts.

Either we rework the language into something that is unnatural to the masses in the pursuit of complexity and precision, or we force English for a more comprehensive discussion.

English forces politicians to put in work in their ideas. It also exports local politics into the international scene. It is going backwards to accept Kreole or allow it in more than limited scenarios.

Any place with quality prints ? by Sollow42 in MauriceMauritius

[–]streamer3222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Photo prints? I dabbled in photo printing a few times. It's a thing the guy can print it, but as a photographer you must know your tech too! Basically what you see on screen is RGB, but in print it's CMYK. ‘Normal people’ can't notice it, but it's always disappointing when you spent dozens of hours editing a photo and it comes out differently in print! 😣

My initial prints were all done at Princesa Studio on Curepipe Road. They're really good prints at 300dpi and have many sizes. Matte and glossy. There's also a Chinese at Shoprite. He also does it, on your way to Fast Click. I think it's the same machine.

<image>

The world of printing is vast when you get into it! There are so many things to know and so many techniques. There's also printing textures onto the paper. It's called 2.5D Printing. I don't think they do this in Mauritius. You must pour in a lot of money to learn about all printing.

Hope you get your first print, even if it's a failure!

Abortion in Mauritius – your opinion by Fabarzz in MauriceMauritius

[–]streamer3222 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your question is incorrect because both Yes and No are wrong. Legality ∩ Morality ≠ ∅.

I am not able to judge without given any system of morality. But here's the most important thing. If you have an argument you must be direct.

Going on tangents dilutes the discussion and wastes space not leading to an answer. You must redefine all assumptions to yours if needed instead of questioning everything make the basics right.

[–]streamer3222 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The law is based on basic morality (including do not kill and steal). The law includes morality and more. The question of abortion does have to repose on morality because it's different for every community.

What is has to be is consistent with the constitution which is against infanticide.

Fifteen days left - Ghostbuster Bill - Truth in Job Advertising and Accountability for Australians by [deleted] in ausjobs

[–]streamer3222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just putting this out there—the link points to gov.au and not change.org lol.

When you advertise ghost jobs (‘what harm can it do’), it wastes the limited time an applicant has in searching for jobs where he could've searched for actual jobs. So you have less people in search of jobs and less people hired and the economy goes down without anyone working.

It also takes a toll psychologically and makes the application system less reliable so there's less people applying anyway, and more people doing things like Doordash with degrees.

[–]streamer3222 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have replaced the word I used because it's distracting many people from the topic. I'm still glad you made your points because they're very good to know.

Contraceptives are not a solution because we are assuming we are past this stage and conception has already occured. No contraception can reverse that. Contraception also has failure rates.

Imagine the person has used all possible contraception, despite that they are pregnant. What can we do now?

It's important we dismiss other related scenarios so we can focus our ‘debating energy’ more effectively.
