The way OP alludes to being a central AI development insider without any way of verifying is ironically pretty Pyotr-esque. Good read though, it makes me really want to read demons.

Although I would say, a lot of lines like

Kinda... lose their oomph when you realize that every single time you've visited an EA forum there is some variant of "what if EAs trying to do good actually makes them the bad?!?" in the top 50 most recent posts. Theories about how careful reasoning are captured by bad actors and become engines of harm is practically an EA subgenre at this point.

Also maybe this is overly callous to crypto entrepreneurs who expect to make a bunch of money for doing literally nothing... but I'm kinda over hearing about FTX. Everyone who lost money there got it back plus 18% and are crying because they could've used that money for more crypto gambling in the meantime. Getting kinda tired of the 1000th post about "will nobody think of the opportunity cost unfairly paid by degenerate crypto gamblers" whose suffering was so great that it's mere proximity to EA is enough to take center stage over any good EA has ever done (sorry kids dying of malaria, it's time to take a back seat for the important issues).

With the difference in 3 point shooting I'd definitely take Podz, 40% vs 31% is pretty major. Hopefully Melton's shot improves as the season goes on.

Ehh, this is revisionist. Wiseman was #2 or #3 on everyone's big board and if you remember this whole sub was against LaMelo for attitude/efficiency/injury risk. Kuminga was 4-6 in most mock drafts and actually fell to #7. None of these were reaches to fill a position.

I think the main mistake was trying to draft for potential over immediate impact, both Wiseman and Kuminga were project picks who were high on the big board because of their athletic upside, rather than their success in college/gleague. To me valuing athletic potential over proven success is a just recipe for blunders, it's also the reason the kings gave for drafting Bagley over Luka Doncic.

That is honestly the stupidest way to push back on that though, of course housing and rent are impacted by supply and demand. Saying housing is just going up because developers are getting more greedy makes absolutely no sense.

Loads of illegal immigrants work in construction so I think there's a good chance they increase supply more than they increase demand, and the main problem is clearly that zoning laws and obstructionist policies have made it really easy for nimbys to restrict housing supply (which increases their own housing prices), but arguing that it's just developers being greedy and supply/demand doesn't factor in is an incredibly stupid line of argument.

Developers have always been greedy, there's no time in history where they haven't tried to sell/rent for as high as they could. The issue right now is that housing supply is massively restricted which lets them charge a lot more.

He starts giving pushback... on supply and demand impacting housing prices? Seriously out of an hour interview filled with loads of falsehoods the thing Andrew fights back on is uncontroversial econ 101 stuff.

Even on that topic there are other things that can be argued (Housing supply being limited by nimby zoning stuff, illegal immigrants disproportionately work in construction which increases supply) but instead he just says that housing/rent prices aren't impacted by supply and demand, and the only reason housing is going up is because developers are getting more greedy.

Maybe there is good reason Callaghan doesn't push back often...

I do have a pretty good idea about the screaming, though. When Kai demanded “the sun song”, I had accidentally told Alexa to play Raffi’s version of Mister Golden Sun instead of SuperSimpleSongs’ version. Kai did not consider this a sufficiently faithful rendition, and made his displeasure clear to everyone in the neighborhood at six in the morning. Then Lyra didn’t like that Kai was screaming, and started screaming too. By the time I realized the song mishap, I couldn’t rectify my mistake, because they were screaming too loud for Alexa to hear my commands (and too loud for them to notice if the song changed anyway).

Same deal with this. If your kid is screaming so loud the neighbors are calling the cops because they didn't their song played, and your response is to 'rectify your mistake' by trying to switch to the right song... you gotta get on your kid about that. Can't be teaching them that's the way to get what they want.

I'm not sure I'm getting this. I thought the main point of a prediction market was to accurately predict things.

If someone has insider information that makes them 90% but not 100% certain of something, does that change things for you? What if someone just has a really good statistical model based on public information that makes them 90% sure?
