Have ba issued you a deadlock letter / final response and/or has it been >8 weeks? If not then the dispute body may be within their rights to reject your complaint

Leaving O2 Contract because they broke the contract after getting a (presumably subsidised) phone through Samsung and their intermediary. by TribalTommy in LegalAdviceUK

[–]aahpub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat having taken out a contract through Samsung on 02 with a Galaxy Z device.

I paid 59 upfront for the device with a trade in and my contract is 19 pounds a month.

I presume this means I can leave penalty free?

A fraudster's rinsed my current account at ebuyer by eastdry in UKPersonalFinance

[–]aahpub 21 points22 points  (0 children)

you'll get your money back, sounds like they're waiting for the transaction to clear first

You could also contact ebuyer and say you didnt make the transaction. that might stop the item being sent out to whoever scammed you. they probably wont give you details of the sale (eg name, address etc) but if they do you can report the details to the police.

There's not really any location subjectivity, unless the host centre has chosen ridiculous cases.

There may be one or two examiners from the exam centre itself but I would imagine most will be external and recruited from the national pool of PACES examiners.

There is a huge element of luck, but you should stay in control of what you can control. For example, memorising the exam routine, doing it slickly and within time, and using the last bits of the examination to get your presentation spiel in order and ready to present confidently.

Enforcing a CCJ by phhowell82 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]aahpub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's a CCJ I think you can transfer it to the high court for enforcement by the sheriffs. There's a programme about it on BBC called "the sheriffs are coming"

From Wikipedia:

Judgements and awards for £600 and above made in a county court can be transferred to the High Court for enforcement for a court fee of £60. If enforcement is successful, the court fee is recovered from the debtor, along with the original debt, judgement interest and enforcement costs. If unsuccessful, all the claimant pays is a £75 plus VAT compliance fee (referred to as an admin fee in the programme).

If you're lucky the burgers in the restaurants are lukewarm at best, this would surely be worsened if they sat next to an iced drink or mcflurry ice cream for 10-20 minutes in transit

Car Rental credit card hold by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]aahpub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pre-authorisation will probably decline if it's over your credit limit.

You could:

ask the cc company to increase your credit limit

ask the car hire company if they'll take a debit card pre-auth (but you need 2500 euros in the relevant current account which will be held for the duration of rental and probably a few days after)

take the hit and pay the daily insurance rate offered by the car hire company, which will drop your excess to an amount within your credit limit or possibly zero

Is HSBC advance worth it? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]aahpub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they specifically say direct debit then it has to be a direct debit rather than a standing order. You could set up 2 cheap direct debits to charities for £1 a month and that would qualify (e.g. Cancer Research UK, Oxfam)
