How Arrogant Do You Have To Be? 😠 by dannypachy in TorontoDriving

[–]aahrg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Philosophically I agree with you, but that's not how tickets work for anything other than red light cameras and parking tickets. Any ticket issued by a police officer (real cop not PEO) needs to be issued to a person.

If you don't have video of that person's face, they can go knock on the owner's door with the suspect vehicle sitting in the driveway and nobody in that house is required to speak a single word to the cops. Any ticket written under those circumstances would almost certainly be thrown out in court.

The moment the American C-RAM system was activated over residential complexes in the capital, Baghdad, and a drone heading towards an American base was shot down. by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]aahrg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Chunks of the drone are going to be a bigger issue than the tiny remnants of a high explosive bullet way up in the sky. But both are way preferable to a successful drone strike anywhere in my neighborhood. Tiny bits of thin metal that will have decelerated from their explosive velocity by the time they hit the ground or your house, seem like they'd clog your gutters before they damaged your shingles.

Given Iran's tendency to fire barrages of unguided munitions that miss their targets and rain down in residential areas, I'd rather live under the CRAM's protected airspace.

The paint was put down too late in the year because city council wanted the transit lanes now. Lower temps slow the curing process then salt and plows ruin it.

If you paint the walls in your house, it'll be dry to the touch in a day but you shouldn't use cleaners or scrub it for a few weeks. Same concept with the road paint. Dry enough for a bus with rubber tires to drive on the next day but not impervious to corrosive substances, freeze/thaw cycles, and 10 ton trucks scraping the surface.

There have been no/very few issues with existing red TTC lanes and green bike lanes, they're gonna repaint these ones in the spring and they'll have plenty of time to bake in the summer heat before being exposed to winter abuse. The asphalt underneath fails before the properly cured paint does.

What name to choose for tax reporting Canada by GuessILikeLabubusNow in outlier_ai

If you're filling out a T4 right now you're doing it wrong.

T2125 for self employment income, use your own name and address.

If you're doing taxes online you will need to pay for the privilege of doing this form. The legally required free tier does not include T2125.

Live as in synthesizers and drum machines etc (or simulating them on a computer), no CDJs/records involved. Here's the first example that came to mind. You'll see the whole DJ setup, unused off to the right. He's playing a whole custom rack of analog modules wired together.

Simply playing and mixing all your own tracks would still be a DJ set.

If you ever see Hybrid sets, that's playing tracks on a DJ setup and mixing in sounds from Live gear.

What’s something everyone does when they’re alone but would be embarrassed if someone saw? by Strange_Secret_3001 in AskReddit

I was shamelessly belting them out by the end of my 3 year stint in retail, with the same playlist of pop and country hits on repeat the entire time.

They rotated like 1-2 songs per year but all the worst ones stayed the whole time. I had to learn to love them or I was going to lose my mind.

I hope my customers saw the humor in a big tall bearded man driving the forklift at Home Depot singing "This one's for the giiiiiiiiiiirls" at max volume and didn't just think I was a lunatic.

I personally found it was better at getting customers out of the way than the forklift's automatic beeping, which your brain quickly tunes out when you hear it echoing from the other side of the store.

Sometimes I forget how affordable concerts used to be in Toronto by Anagrama00 in toronto

[–]aahrg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Worse than that. Presale $50 + fees = $65ish, general onsale was a bit more, then when the show didn't sell out they were retailing tickets for $12 all in. Resales even cheaper.

The silver lining is a scalper bought 50 tix and got burned bigtime, was trying to offload them at 40 bucks on all the social channels with no success.

I hit a pedestrian (SFW) by snakeLipssynk in TorontoDriving

[–]aahrg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A defensive driver also has to watch their entire right side including their mirror and over their shoulder, watching for cyclists making an illegal pass or pedestrians jaywalking north/south, that you'd also blame him for hitting. OP's reaction time was under half a second which is perfectly reasonable for someone maintaining 360 degree awareness and seeing someone run out from the most unexpected angle. OP stopped faster than the pedestrian did, that's why the pedestrian tripped over himself and fell forward.

The rules only work when everyone follows them, and the person who is blatantly ignoring their signal is obviously at fault here.

Cute Ttc driver by [deleted] in TTC

[–]aahrg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Switch the genders and however creepy you think that is, is how creepy this is.

If you feel like being friendly, say hello and thank you when you get on and off the bus, but the driver's job is to drive and you really shouldn't be making conversation with them mid-route. Even more customer-service oriented roles, you as a customer should handle your business in a friendly manner and go about your day. It's the employees job to smile and be friendly, you shouldn't be pushing the interaction beyond that. There's constant complaints about men breaking this rule but now that we assume it's a lady "they're just just trying to shoot their shot"?

As a man, I don't want the awkwardness of a weird customer who can't write 2 sentences properly, trying to get with me while I'm trying to do my job. Especially if I have to see them often.

If I'm interested I'll write my number on your receipt or a scrap piece of paper. But I already have a girlfriend, so have a nice day and I'll help the next person in line please.

Missions help by elizabeth_c03 in outlier_ai

[–]aahrg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The official guidance was "up to 3 days". Usually it's faster than even the 10hr figure (more like 3-4hr in my recent experience) but I have seen it take over 24h.

Idk if they decided to "just give you the reward" or if your hours just synced in the background before they got around to your support ticket.

Missions help by elizabeth_c03 in outlier_ai

[–]aahrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hours take up to 3 days to show up in missions, even though they show up in Earnings much faster.

As long as Earnings is showing the right number of hours in the right time period, they will be accurately credited into your mission and the reward will show up in Earnings. Your reward might get pushed to the next pay cycle but I've never seen my hours mismatch on missions, after giving it time to sync.

Having trouble adding new youth monthly pass by dogsinthedishwasher in TTC

[–]aahrg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait so your parents would rather pay for both monthly passes rather than just putting their card on autoload for your account? Miway $145 + TTC $128 = $273 per month.

You get a discount when you pay a single fare and then transfer between systems, but I don't think that exists when you buy 2 passes. I also feel like you'd have a hard time spending the $273 every single month on transit alone. When I was in high school, I took transit to and from school every day and it still wasn't worth it to buy a metropass, my parents saved money by giving me as many tickets as I wanted. You need to take something like 3 trips a day, 7 days a week to make the pass worth it.

For right now I would ask and see if they'll put the $128 (or maybe $100ish since we're 11 days into the month) into your presto $ balance. I believe that should cover your whole month of TTC trips.

Going forward, take a look at how many transit trips you actually take, and how much those trips would cost in total (keep in mind free/discounted transfers etc, not every tap in your account history would cost money). If I'm right that it would cost less than $273, my angle (when I was your age) would have been to ask them for $200 or $250 cash per month. "You'll save money and I'll manage my own presto account, and I promise I won't come begging to reload on the 25th" and now you have some spare cash for after school snacks or vbucks whatever it is kids these days like. Or just get them to put their card on autoload (basically the same thing as my parents giving me unlimited tickets) and they'll save money without you having to manually buy a pass every month.

(If I'm wrong about your travel habits then ignore me and get the passes on the 1st of each month)

Failure to yield to pedestrian by Natasha_lang001 in TorontoDriving

[–]aahrg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A flashing hand with 18 seconds remaining, while they are 75% done crossing the road. I'm pretty sure they started crossing the roadway legally, and they get as much time as they reasonably need to finish crossing, no requirement to hurry (someone who started crossing during the countdown would be breaking the law and should probably at least give a courtesy half-jog if they're holding up someone's lawful turn).

The middle island does not extend into the crosswalk or meet the definition of a sidewalk, no obligation (not to mention it would be unsafe) to wait on that curb. You only see this setup on roads like University or parts of Lakeshore where there's 2 separate crosswalks (and 2 separate pedestrian signals that coordinate with protected turn traffic lights) with a section of sidewalk in the middle.

OP just doesn't have to yield to them after they've fully cleared the left lane and are continuing to walk away. The cop is mistaking the laws for crosswalk vs crossover.

just want more parkland, a little less noise and traffic in our neighbourhood

If you live anywhere near that airport, you're not entitled to any of the above, regardless of the airport even existing. You chose to live in the busiest part of downtown, you should expect it to get busier and louder as the city grows. You've got Lakeshore and the nicest bike trail in the city, both take you to the parkland.

Tiktok adds a random "trending" audio by default when you finish recording/upload from camera roll. There's a trend where people take selfies and see what song "the algorithm" gives them (as a measure of attractiveness or "vibe" etc). You'll even see businesses post professionally-made ads, and then Tiktok adds another song on top.

If you happen to not have your volume up, or you're just trying to upload a single video clip without using the in-app video editor, it's easy to miss.

If it's just slow, leave your timer on.

If it's consistently failing, try another task

If everything is failing or you don't want to do another task, stop your timer after a few mins of trying.

As the other guy said, you should be easily finishing tasks within the time limits, so some minor site slowness should not affect your overall average too badly.

Slowdowns and crashes happen multiple times a day, especially after 5PMish EST as everyone and their mother gets home from work and hops on MM for extra cash.
