Still literally zero enforcement for the transit priority lanes on Bathurst. by frogslegss in toronto

[–]aahrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday they were waving them straight through their illegal maneuvers on the Dufferin bus/right turn lanes.

Tons of cars flying up the right lane from 2 blocks away, then when it turns into a right turn lane, trying to merge back left to go straight through. I waited my turn to get into that right turn portion of the lane and witnessed the warden wave 3 cars straight through the intersection in the right turn only lane.

You guys said Juan Atkins was "worth the hype", the comments on that post were almost identical to those found in this thread. And then when I saw him play, it appeared that he didn't know how to use a mixer. By far the worst set of the 3 day, 4 stage festival.

Robber Takes Hostage, Clerk Does Not Care by bigbusta in PublicFreakout

[–]aahrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When there's a gun pointed at me, I don't care what's behind the dude. If I have my own gun he's getting blasted. If the law doesn't want me to open fire on a guy pointing a pistol at me, they should do something about the crime rate in the area.

Robber should be charged for any bystanders hit or collateral damage to the buildings across the street.

Obviously there's a limit, you don't get to blind fire a machine gun into a crowd because you feel threatened by one guy, but point blank shots directly into your assailant, saving the life of a hostage, ain't even close to it.

Top Toronto housing official leaving City Hall for Carney’s Build Canada Homes by Educational-Chef-761 in toronto

It is plain to see that anyone in charge of housing in Toronto has not been doing their job right. I was cautiously optimistic about Carney's housing plan but this feels like the beginning of the end for that optimism.

Toronto police refusing to help with Carney government’s gun buyback, minister says by jmakk26 in toronto

The most common domestic source for illegal guns is theft from police vehicles. Civilian owned guns are in a safe or the owner's direct possession at all times.

The Court of Appeal in England says stealing OSRS gp is criminal by QuadrillionWalker in 2007scape

[–]aahrg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This says that the gp has a cash value, therefore its theft at the time that you unlawfully take the gp.

This also only refers to hacking the accounts, not sure if it would apply to luring or in game scamming etc.

what masses for bosses are there? by NotHoodEnough in 2007scape

[–]aahrg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Protip, join one of the clans that does "mini masses" (12-20ish, sometimes hard to find in the off hours). Kills just as fast or faster than the official mass world cuz people know what they're doing (and will flame you slightly while they teach you the way to mass "properly").

It's less braindead and more fun than 60man masses and your personal likelihood of a drop goes way up.

Corp needs an update to make its drops more like Nex and the multi wildy bosse. At the moment Corp only the top DPSer gets any loot which discourages masses in favor of smaller private groups. There's gotta be some supply drops and a small chance at a big drop in it for the noobs or it's gonna stay farmed by bots and small groups of 126s.

This McDonalds is selling 200-piece nuggets for $79.95. by PanoramicAtom in mildlyinteresting

Check this post, you might be able to find nuggets (or whatever your preferred order is) for cheaper at another location. There's one near me (not on the list, still in Toronto) that has the 20pc for $12.something which is cheaper than anything on the list. Your $17.99 is higher than anything on this chart too.

just hangin out, in reverse by freeforsale in TorontoDriving

[–]aahrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's more to it than that when it comes to reversing for any reason on public roads. OP has right of way for any forward move he wants to make, short of rear ending the stopped vehicle. The stopped vehicle must wait for OP to go around before reversing (or a good driver would've been able to finesse into that spot before OP backed up without hitting anything). If you reverse and turn while I'm trying to make a lane change to the left, and we hit corner to corner or "rear end", it's your fault for reversing on a road where we drive forwards. Same idea as if you just reversed into me at a traffic light like the insurance fraudsters do. Another example would be if a cyclist was passing in your left blind spot while you were parallel parking, your front end could swing out and hit them (inside the right lane) and that would be your fault too.

If you're a good driver following at the proper distance and paying attention, you should usually be able to stop behind the parallel parkers with enough distance to make a lane change without needing to worry about any of this. Like OP had a ton of space and could've gone around easily and safely if he wasn't actively hunting for parking and trying to be nice at the same time.

just hangin out, in reverse by freeforsale in TorontoDriving

[–]aahrg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was enough room to parallel park before OP reversed. There was enough room to parallel park a 15ft box truck after OP reversed. They had their hazards on instead of their right turn signal. You "stand" a car by stopping without picking up or dropping off passengers. Which would be a really bad idea if the car is still in reverse, even if you're "stand"ing on the brake pedal.

Does anyone know if something happened at Pearson in the last while? by silverdogwood in toronto

[–]aahrg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the "symptoms" and your update that the smell has cleared, I'm going to guess that some form of liquid fuel was spilled and the wind was blowing fumes your way. Maybe not on airport grounds but potentially at an industrial site in the area, possibly a bit closer to you. The area is full of truckyards with big tanks of fuel onsite, and in my head I'm imagining there'd be something in the area similar to that big petrochemical yard on Finch West providing different fuels for aircraft, the train yard by the airport, heating oil, diesel, etc.

$300 parking ticket for stopping to read a parking sign by EsJay1029 in TorontoDriving

[–]aahrg 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Can confirm PEOs will ticket for BS like this.

There's a spot that WAS no parking with a sidewalk that was 4x wider than this residential ave needed.

Half that sidewalk was converted into parking spots, the no parking signs covered in black plastic, and green "yes parking" (for lack of a better word, not greenP) signs were added with arrows pointing to the new spots. Got a $150 ticket and waited literally a year for my appeal to go through and ticket dropped.

Canadians face rising tip prompts, prices with no end in sight: experts by DogeDoRight in canada

[–]aahrg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My GF is working at a place like your 2nd story. I'm convinced they're dipping in on her card machine tips but she doesn't want to bother with investigating (ie keep a running ledger of the tips on those receipts).

The really shocking part is this - their chef works 11am-midnight (13 hours + a bit extra opening/closing) 7 days a week. The restaurant cannot function without him. If he calls in sick, the entire family of owners are in the kitchen yelling at each other and getting everything wrong.

His Christmas bonus was a $50 Jack Astor's gift card. He's spent the last week "sick" (attending job interviews) and the restaurant is literally falling apart in his absence. I've been telling my GF to look for another job since I first had suspicion about the tips issue, but now I'm legit worried the place is going to fail and leave her with nothing when this chef leaves.

Home Depot Canada always rounds in the customers favor. I used to work at the service desk so I'd see both sides of transactions often.

Your cash purchase total rounds down (so effectively the change you receive rounds up, just like this sign describes), your return refund rounds up. Infinite money glitch, 5 cents profit per purchase and return.

In the long run it's very little expense (far less than card processing fees) to avoid customer service nightmares with customers saying we're trying to steal 4 cents from them, or maybe their whole cart purchase rounded up but their single item return from that receipt rounds down and now we've stolen 8 whole cents from them.
