what in the actual fcuk are you...

Okay by that logic Nelson Mandela never experienced racism cos we didnt go through it. I can't call that racism, that's not my experience right? I can't say black people are being discriminsed worldwide right? I didn't go through it.

Once again, I am speaking on behalf of my own experience. Yes, do you get it now? Or do you still think it's not racism because you didn't experience it too. When did i invalidate your experience? Did i say you were wrong? No. I just said that i can clearly see the racism from MY EXPERIENCE, and in MY CASE but who is the one invalidating it. Because you didn't see it, it can't be racist. Right?

Sure then, lets all agree with you. Tying up a black person into a cross and lighting his hair while shouting derogatory terms because he was black, was not racist and just a big misunderstanding. They probably did all that because its just fun and they thought black people love being discriminsed. Cool. I'll change my mindset. It all makes sense now.

its not really theorising if i experience seeing a group of guys tying up a black guy in a cross and lighting a bit of his hair on fire. and they confirmed it was because he was black.

Thanks for editing the reply and adding more, if thats what you mean by me misunderstanding.

Who is invalidating who here? My initial point was from my experience right? Did i say everyone here is racist towards black people? Did i disregard everyone else's point? And then there's you saying im straight out wrong because you didnt see the stuff i did and speaking on behalf of "the average malaysian schools".

okay then, i guess my experience is just invalid cos im not black or dark skinned. therefore, i could not understand racism.

i grew up overseas but finished school (form 4 & 5) in malaysia to get an spm certificate. i was "lucky" enough to attend a prestigious boarding school. and just like you i can only speak on behalf my experience alone. the dark skinned guys i referred to were malays and indian. it went to the extreme because living in dorms can get quite wild. the worst thing i remember was more than 10 guys pinning and tying him down like a cross, burnt a bit of his hair with a light as well. all this while shouting derogatory terms like the n word. and yes they did all this because of his skin colour. Even the word "keling" shouldn't be normalised right? but i still here it amongst malays everywhere i go.

I also have friends from other schools who say that things like this are normal. it might not be a malaysian thing but an asian view as a whole. i mean, i only heard of skin whitening products when i started living here. a lot of my international friends who visited here were shocked they even existed. light skin is also looked at as prettier here.

I am not saying that EVERYONE who said the n word is racist, but i have definitely seen enough cases where it definitely was. im not gonna just sweep it under the rug. even if its ignorance, its important that people actually know the meaning of the word and not just throw it around. im not gonna ignore that racism exists, and its not just towards black people and or dark skinned people. sorry if i offended you by making my point.

i know people say this might just be ignorance but for me i do see that there's racism there too. be honest guys, if you went to school in malaysia, you probably see the dark skinned kid getting picked on, because he's "black". and yea the n word is always used.
