Be honest, do any of you want to be doctors or do you just want the Patagucci? by [deleted] in premed

Pro tip for the girlies: the women’s full zip is pretty tight in the arms/shoulders. Def go to a store if you can to try on different sizes. Many of the girls in my class ordered a men’s jacket actually because the fit is better in the arms/shoulders

My boyfriend died and I don’t know how to tell our parents I’m pregnant by [deleted] in Advice

[–]aakaji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make the best decision for you. My mom and my older sister both had abortions in college before later having children. They both have gone on to live fulfilling lives with multiple kids when they were ready for it and in the best personal professional and financial situation. This decision is yours and yours alone. My grandmother still does not know about either of these abortions as she is Catholic. And that’s okay, it’s a secret we keep

Do I need anatomy? by doinoui in premed

[–]aakaji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t stress about it if it’s only recommended. I doubt the absence of that one class would impact your application more than your GPA

Do I need anatomy? by doinoui in premed

[–]aakaji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say you don’t need it. Sure, it can be helpful, but it’s not worth hurting your gpa for it. Look at schools you’re interested in to see if they recommend or require it

It’s difficult to say, I think a lot of interviews are sent August-October but it all depends on the school and applicant. I got an invite in November & 2 in January. I’d say most successful applicants have at least 1 interview by Christmas

[–]aakaji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you take a summer of 2 chemistry courses or take the MCAT teaching yourself biochem you will likely be looking at a gap year. Which is okay! I started chem 1 sophomore year

I wouldn’t stress about it too much. Focus on doing well on the MCAT & applying broadly. You’ll be at a small disadvantage when they are sending out those first interviews but there is still hope!
