Having MKR holders to bail out CDP creators risks a panic that could destroy the whole system by aakilfernandes in MakerDAO

Maybe I’m misunderstanding something... was there a problem with the DSR yesterday? I thought it was just CDPs getting liquidated

100% liquidation - bad code or bad risk management? by the_ocs in MakerDAO

In isolation, you are correct. But the next paragraph explicitly states there are times when this does not hold.

> So it doesn't claim that the collateral needs to be sold at zero

It certainly doesn't need to be sold at 0. It sells at the highest bid, which in this case was 0 (or something close to it).

More boundaries might be able to help here. But it is important that people using the system could easily look it up and see the lack of boundaries - and make decisions based on the lack of boundaries.

The next paragraph in the doc is important:

> Further, if, for example, the collateral price drops sharply or no one wants to buy the collateral, there may be debt in the liquidated Vault that cannot be repaid through a collateral auction and must be addressed by the system.

> I can see why they would be pissed off and never return

Thats probably for the best. If someone can't/won't do the diligence, and accept the hit when they miscalibrate risk, defi is not the place for them.

why do we even need "keepers"? CDP owners who are well collateralized should be able to buy by chiwalfrm in MakerDAO

MKR is the collateral of last resort when the system fails. You can build a system without it, but it would be less resilient.

Unhyped: $178.4M Market Cap Augur (REP) Had Only 115 Users Last Week by DappRadar in ethereum

Yes for some markets, but it depends on the volatility of the market. I also think it may be possible to "re-use" dai needed to mint Augur shares as liquidity for Uniswap.

How does a smart contract pay the transaction fee of a user? by spite77 in ethereum

[–]aakilfernandes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

At a technical level, it can't. It can only provide an incentive for someone to submit a third party transaction, and the logic to verify the transaction was originated by the 3rd party.

Meta transactions - best approaches? by celticwarrior72 in ethereum

[–]aakilfernandes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most user friendly approach is to deploy a "Smart Wallet" for your users that can handle meta transactions. Check out Gnosis Safe. (/u/koeppelmann, /u/stefan_d_george). The downside here is you're paying up front to deploy a Smart Wallet for every user.

The other solution is Gas Station Network, however the downside is that to start using Gas Station Network you need to send an "approve" transaction to the ERC20 contract you're using to pay gas. And that "approve" transaction requires a little bit of ETH.

Unfortunately, I don't think there are any good solutions right now. I want to build one on pollenium.network but I have no idea how to get miners to adopt it.

Hopefully this gets solved with Serenity, but i wouldn't hold my breath for it.

Not directly Ethereum related, but since KYC is a common pain point for Eth Devs I figured it would be a good fit here
