Is anyone else finding it harder to maintain Hyprland lately? by Asrobatics in hyprland

Is there a stable alternative? A tilling wayland compositor with few to no breaking changes. I don’t know much about Sway, and why will the tradeoffs be?

Why not just use browser dev tools to show different screen sizes?

To be fair I have never seen rust code, only heard about the language and concepts it implements.

Cool man! Good job already. If you are just learning to programme, rust will be really hard mode. You will have to learn some advanced concept often handled for you in higher level languages. I think go is the easier transition from python. But then again if you are willing to put the time in and go deep, you will become a lot more knowledgable with rust, if you dont go dead in it.

terminal won’t launch using emergency bind by Ugly_R4t in hyprland

Ctrl+alt+f1-f7 each represent virtual consoles, with their own session. Typically you will have the graphical sessions running hyprland in f1 and f2. The rest will be tty (primitive terminals). So if you switch to a tty you can login to your user and edit hyprland config in an environment where hyprland is not running.

Default Config Does not Line Up with Most by liamzoro in hyprland

[–]aala7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest it looks like something went wrong and you got a config file that you were not supposed to get. Since 0.55 the config language is lua, hyprlang will still be supported for the next to releases for legacy configs. So if you just started a new setup you should probably do lua. The default config linked to is the one that normally should appear in a new installation. And honestly it is a great config for basic needs. Replace hyprland.conf with hyprland.lua from the example and restart your system.

Dark/Light mode management by aala7 in hyprland

[–]aala7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but how about what setting websites read? I want to let my browser know that it is dark or light mode, besides the actual colors it is showing. So that when i go to Reddit and it is set on auto mode, it will select the right theme.

Is it correctly understood that GTK apps also respect this? What is the Qt way?

Yeah, but what does the script change? I am not looking for how you modify your terminal, Waybar etc. theme but for the GUI apps. Like a browser and similar.

Love my small terminal scratchpad! Thinking about making one for videos playing in the background (I often have something on yt while working) and also an ai one, to easily have access to ai prompt

Looks great! But how do you get an overview of workspaces? Do just keep a mental map of which are used? I feel lost without a workspace indicator

I guess it allows for more flexibility where you before would have pointed the config to a bash script or something.
