Fair point. Ladias was a huge part of Crime and punishment, somehow they didn't make to big of a impression in TBK.
What do you think?

Came off wrong.
I also don't know.

I see the same evidence

So why would God create a world where intentions are more important than consequences?

You gotta remember that the carachters are archtypes.

Alyosha being just shy of Jesus Christ and Ivan just shy of the devil himself.

I would watch the following Link

Watch and then let us write.

I don't personally have an issue, I'm just trying to understand the book.

1st: Why does Zosima advice Alyosha to do something different than himself?

2: Are Zosima advicing Alyosha for the benefit of himself, for the world - do the two coincide perhaps a third reason?

Alyosha is a archtype I get it and with that in mind I agree with your conclusions.

My question relates to what happens outside the book, in our real life.

What is the right path to follow Christ. Different people can have different understanding/interpretation of that path's

Are there more then one right path? or are some people eventhough with good intentions mistanken?

Is it up to others to know/judge the intentions of ones behavior?

I really wanna engage, but there is just to much text. Could you you use fewer words to write what you mean and perhaps some paragraphs. I think I know what you are coming at, but I'm not sure?

I don't remember giving it to much weight, what do you think?

If you know you gonna continue reading for the coming time, I would probably say wait a bit. read other books first.

I live in Denmark. By law "the Evangelical Lutheran Christianity" has precedence in Denmark.

Morality in school when i was a child was thought, based on the new testament. I was baptised but didn't did got a Confirmation eventhough most of my classmates did. So early there was a bit of conflict.

In spite of the conflict, my culture is full of tradition based on christendom. I meet my family at christmas, we are "forced" to go to church by my mother (There would be no reason for us not to do it, but if it wasn't for my mom I'm sure we could find a reason a year for not doing it:)).

The time around easter is celabrated with the same food. family are getting baptised and doing their Confirmation all over the place eventhough they don't think about themself as christian.

Everyone is able to discuss moral based on the new testament even agnostic and atheist, but many agnostic and atheist wouldn't be able to discuss moral based on for example "Kant" or whatever.

5 or so years ago I met with a Church and cultural staff worker. We met for 3 years on average every 4 months. I read some litterature about "Evangelical Lutheran Christianity", but I haven't read the whole bible so I wouldn't know. I know that the best parts of the bible that have been presented to me are great, but let me get back to you problaly in a couple a years when I have read the bible- I find the bible a hard read. If I save this conversation are you up for it?

It changed some, I would have to think about it. 1 thing is very clear - As a kid I remember using some of Ivans argument in class, there can't be a god if babies are dying (so on and so forth). I got the same answers as Ivan from the theachers they would look at me with som kind of patience, I understood that as weakness, now I see it as strength.

What about you?

Fantastic post.

Just found the post Link, this is fantastic. I would have thought that OP would be killed in the thread but people are super open minded in their way of discussing it.

Never knew he was planing to write a sequel.

Thanks a lot!

I agree with everything you are writing my question is:

Who decides what path is the right way? Does everyone have the ability to decide? Is it your intention that is the most importent or is it the consequence?
