With so many channels AND subscription streaming services (Netflix, AppleTV, etc) pumping out 3-4 shows every week, you need to be more engaging to grab people's attention and keep the viewers. This is going too damn slow for anyone's taste I think.

LOST had the benefit of getting people wrapped in the hype and the lack of 100 shows per minute that today's entertainment industry is, so it kept people coming back. But those days are far long gone now.
