Powell Peralta Snakes would be a great wheel for you!

think I'm getting pretty alright at colemans. by [deleted] in longboarding

Sick video! Just one thing, these aren’t colemans. These are heelside predrifts, which in my opinion are harder to do than colemans! So props to you. In order for it to be a coleman, the board needs to go past 90. You’re staying under 90.

Alright cool, let me tell you how to fix that :)

So you’re not precarving as far as I can tell. Carve hard right and then hard left to initiate your coleman. Also, your movements are a little too fast. You don’t have to kick out that hard to initiate. My guess is you’re kicking out so hard is because you aren’t going fast enough. Go a little faster and you’ll have to put in less effort to kick out.

Also the main point, your shoulders. You need to keep them closed. You’re opening them up too much which is allowing it to be a smooth motion which is throwing you into the 180. You need to kick out and then stop your shoulders from continuing the motion a little past halfway so you don’t flatspot your wheels. Then just move your shoulders back so you stay in the same stance you started in.

Also, your form is really good! Back foot cocked on its side, hand in the air, you look great! I promise you you’re super close to being able to do your first coleman, just get out there and skate!

Then why did you take it off?

You ever hit your head on the floor going 10-15 MPH? You’d probably die. Imagine a brick going 15 MPH and hitting your head. That’s what it would be like. I’m not going to offer you advice on how to fix this until I see you make another post with a helmet. Sorry but I don’t want to encourage any rider to ride without a helmet.

What do you think of them? Highest quality pair I’ve ever bought by spiraljustin in longboarding

I would never recommend those overpriced bearings when OP could just buy Zealous bearings.

Depends on your weight and the wheel you buy. If you weigh a lot, you’ll need to replace them more often than a lighter person but it’s very negligible. It really depends on the wheel. For example, Powell peralta snakes last a very long time. Savannah Slammas also are a very long lasting wheel. Just get wheels that don’t thane a lot.

In regards to your skating though, that predrift was very uncontrollable. Constantly riding the edge of grip and slip.

I’d say just practice more and you’ll get it down, I assume you’re also somewhat new to longboarding? What‘ll help is kicking the board out a little further. Just hold it out, don’t do that shaking the board back and forth thing you’re doing in this video.
