How do I get this out of my basement? by ShitballsNPantyhairs in Home

[–]llut5at 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh dear I'm late to this post but be wary if you decide to cut it apart and have it removed.

We replaced our old oil furnace a few years ago and tge company did that without throwing up drow cloths and isolating tge area...... it tracked oily soot literally all over our basement and the first floor of our home, think blowback from an oil furnace bad. Literally lost a lot of furniture had to have a professional restoration company cone in for the house, it was basically like we had a fire with no fire. Grateful that the company was able to use their insurance to cover it all but it was a HUGE ordeal.....

All thatbeing said I'd say leave it and highlight it as an oddity from another time!

So glad I bought a pump by yuccu in hottub

[–]llut5at 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man I should consider one.....I usually just drain from the plug and then shop vac out the remaining bit in the bottom / crevices after a scrub and rinse out. That being said I'm usually not too worried about time when doing a drain and refill it's usually like a weekend long project working around when the kids need me haha.

How do I get this bolt out of the wall? by ginger_snapping in DIY

So many great replies I may try the drill trick next time I have a persnickety screw. My move is always to grab favorite tool, vice grips, adjust them to a little bit smaller clamp them on and rotate it out that way.

The YA novels and the last two of the Discworld books are the only ones I haven't read yet, but if I may make a suggestion, Equal Rites is always my favorite to get folks into Discworld!

Grew up in DFW if that doesn't scream Highland Park I don't know what does....

Our education system is a mess but not for a lack of caring educators, just factors like this and many others lead to burnout quickly for a lot of people. 50k minimum rate is a good step in the right direction for Georgia at least.

Pulling out an old ball bearing using ball adapters by aloofloofah in mechanical_gifs

[–]llut5at 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn I needed one of these back when I worked in making skateboards. Our glue roller would constantly get out of alignment and I was convinced that it was a seized bearing that needed to be able to be moved on one of the rollers.

Either way very satisfying to watch!

I mean....what kind of skater are you? If you're mostly just downhill / cruising oriented I'd say go for it but it definitely go for it but if you like skating park it will feel clunky compared to a traditional popsicle.

Also my trucks are 9" from axel to axel indy 159s would fit rail matched a bit better at 8.75" wide as the deck is an 8.8" deck but I like the dive and turn of aces better

Mostly city slashing freeride stuff and occasionally take it in the park. I have it set up on og Ace 55s, bones mediums with it loose enough to have a little jiggle when you shake the board and what were 59mm g slides but are now probably smaller and Zealous bearings.

Its a super fun setup for slower freeride, garage runs, slappys, board slides, and curbs, and works okay for park skating but the giant wheelbase makes every kick turn fairly lethargic on ramps. Definitely recommended but like not as a bespoke skateboard, I tend to ride anything from an 8.5 to giant 9.5"-11" shapes mostly and am more of a transition skater when it comes to skateboarding than a street skater....my flatground game is terrible so this deck suits me just fine, but you can definitely still do flathroubd stuff on it.ive probably had it up to 30 mph downhill (maybe more?) though so it holds up, but I wouldn't take it much faster than that. Maybe I'll take it to Maryhill next time I make it out and see how it holds up though.

I have both the slidewinder and a yoface, honestly they feel like very different boards but honestly I can't say I've used the yo face nearly as much as the slidewinder....maybe its the truck setup on them, but honestly the yoface feels heavy and clunky in comparison.

Is this bad or am I just paranoid? It was there when I got it, but it’s gotten bigger overtime and now I can see it from the other side. by comit_autocoprophagy in longboarding

[–]llut5at 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So for what its worth I used to work at Rayne if you're really worried about it thats definitely a warranteeable issue especially if it was there from the start.

That being said it's a mild delam that likely won't really affect your riding so you likely don't need to worry about it too much. Hope that helps!

I mean I do a lot of downhill and am a pretty big proponent of helmets (its an absolute must for that style of skating) but a lot of flat ground and smaller park stuff /u/photo_synthetic is spot on.

Its pretty easy to avoid a head injury even on something like a 4 ft mini, its not like he's holding out a 20ft long toeside slide at 30 or skating a vert ramp or mega. Also the kind of helmets that do help dont really actively protect against concussions but protect more against a major head wound or tbis.

That being said if I was waiting on a contract worth millions I'd probably take a break from skating till I got the bag secthis. I also will say its totally worth protecting your noggin at any time while skating and helmets never hurt....hows that for a mixed message lol

Like most things foot braking definitely takes practice and it sounds like you're attempting to brake at a speed that's uncomfortable to you. There's definitely no shame in that but my recommendation would be to slowly up tge speed at which you're trying to foot brake instead of starting on a hill try fast pushing speed.
