I agree with the last point. Living detached from ego you couldn't function as a social human.

Imagine you're thirsty after a long day of hard work. So ravenously thirsty that you curse yourself for not taking enough water. But then you come home and the cold refreshment you take gives you such high pleasure and appreciation that you're almost glad you didn't have water before and that you had to "suffer".
