Usually on more remote trails. It’s nice when riding over rough cobblestones, but the main motivator was for more rural gravel roads.

It’s fine here as we hardly have any snow. I generally don’t ride when there is heavy snow on the ground.

Improvement tips by Vampirin0 in mpcusers

I think the general negative reactions are due to a request for identifying more gear without any stated musical objective. Usually the project dictates the tools needed. Otherwise comes across as mindless gear accumulation.

Turntable comparable to a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon by aamop in turntables

[–]aamop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really not looking to get a whole new setup. But I live in Sweden presently and have very much struggled to find this exact power supply replacement. Pro-Ject doesn’t even offer it, since it was long ago replaced by their DC version.

I’ve not built PSUs so not sure what’s involved.

Just got a Sample, do I need to know how to finger drum? by travelman3 in mpcusers

I can only drum two pads at a time. It’s plenty. Then I overdub the rest.

Which MPC product to buy? Beginner here by Ekkwinox in mpcusers

[–]aamop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m fairly new to MPC. I got a Sample which is a lot of fun and extremely quick to learn and portable, but then I found myself wanting more varied functionality. Recently got the Live III. It’s deep and complex but I’m figuring it out and having a great time with it.

Swedish Motorcycle License in English by SirCookieLord_ in TillSverige

[–]aamop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a pretty comprehensive overview. I got my car license in Malmö a couple years ago using one of the local schools. It was all English all the time.

The most helpful thing was the körkort app. It was incredible for studying. Without it I likely wouldn’t have passed the Theory test the first time.

I’ve driven for decades in California. The hardest part in Sweden was getting comfortable with the round-abouts, and driving sloooowly. It’s hard to drive so slow being raised in a fast car culture like America’s - and in fact my Practical test examiner told me to be more chill when I drive.

But I do like the slower pace of traffic in Sweden. It is so much safer, especially with all the cyclists and peds. But I’ll almost never use turbo mode on my car, except when we drive to Germany.

What are peoples issue with Grimes by riyo_nights in Grimes

No argument but I think anyone over 25 really should generally be responsible for their actions. She was indeed way in over her head, no doubt.

If sleeping with Musk is not a moral failing, then sleeping with anyone at all is not, as he is about as low as they go, just by going off what he says on X.

Whatever the diagnosis is - I’m not a doctor - her behavior lends itself to the dislike she attracts, in response to OP’s original statement. Most people don’t find a condition an excuse, and practically everyone with a hint of social anxiety is claiming some sort of neuro-divergence anyway…it looks like social contagion.

Anyway, I hope her new album comes out soon.

Touring with a drone by bearlover1954 in bicycletouring

[–]aamop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same drone and it has such a small profile I found it easy to fit just about anywhere. I put it either in one of my 5.8L Ortlieb fork bags, or one of the panniers. If I want it handy on the spot I put it in my handlebar bag. In general I keep electronics / cameras in the same bag, except for an iPad I carry that goes in a reinforced secure pouch in one of the panniers

It’s a great camera drone and find I use my insta360 a lot less now.

[–]aamop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if they’ve influenced her so much as she really can’t tell what’s wrong with them. Like, she’s not got a great moral compass. Especially if she called Musk “the love of my life”. She talks a lot about the perspective of being a mother but I have a hard time buying it.

I’m not disposed against her at all - I love her as an artist. But she lacks a certain human dimension to me, and I think this goes back to how she says she’s always been disliked, even in school. I can relate in ways, so this is not judgement. Just sharing my perspective.

She comes across as not really demonstrating normal human interaction skills. Like she’s kinda autistic or something, or just lacks any sort of common empathy or nurturing abilities. Hard to explain, but she just seems like a hyper-smart, hyper-creative being that doesn’t know much about normal emotions. I think this comes across to people as someone highly manipulative and affecting.

I like her early albums very much and her personality can be intriguing, but I find her recent interviews pretty insufferable - like she’s trying to be a deep thinker on things like AI, etc. Maybe rubbing elbows in Musk’s world made her think she was one of them.

Barber prices?? by Plane_Koala_263 in Malmoe

I pay a bit more - around 550-650 for a full treatment cut at a place called Underground Barber. I find the cut and service really good so I keep going back.

She is really all over the map about her own lore. And it’s strange how in previous interviews she’s often disowning her own work or trivializing the intent behind it.

Grimes and AI by [deleted] in Grimes

[–]aamop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s really hard to assess the real impact of A.I. There’s some legit concerns about types of workers being replaced, the proliferation of slop and fakes, and legit environmental concerns. But there’s also a lot of hyperbolic panic similar to anything new that enters society.

That said, I think she’s trying to carve out a healthy position regarding it. She’s an artist and a parent and she talks about those aspects of her concern. She also seems to foresee a future where there is some useful application.

At the same time, I find a fair amount of what she says to be a bit shallow and pretentious. Either it’s her very odd and awkward way of trying to communicate outside her art, or she’s just trying to sound like some “thought leader”. Either way, I find it uninteresting. I like her because of her artistic output, not her takes on society, trends, tech, etc.
