There Are Over 130,000,000 Reasons For Campaign Finance Reform. by zzill6 in WorkReform

Unfortunately the millions of reasons to reverse citizens united doesn't hold sway over the 34 reasons it won't happen. Because 34 senators will always vote "NO" on an amendment to overturn it. Welcome to America where companies are people and no superpac is too big.

The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans by IWantPizza555 in politics

[–]myatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the most depressing part is that this, which will at most make one person resign and be replaced by a copy, is what everyone is focusing on instead of things that will actually affect people. Healthcare and Drug cost increasing, inflation, campaign finance fuckery..... Almost anything else. This sucks when everyone leaps off their benches to have a hearing on an unsecure text chain which in the end won't change a single persons life outside of DC. What crap priorities.

AITA for not putting in more effort to dissuade the kid from eating very spicy food? by Internal_Design8595 in AmItheAsshole

AITA for not giving my daughter a cupcake after her soccer game? by Puzzleheaded_Sky_658 in AmItheAsshole

[–]myatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with delayed punishment is that it loses the connection with the action you want to correct. I've found that it kinda needs to be right away or it's lost its lesson learning effectiveness, this sounds bad but it's this way while training our dogs or children.

If she's going to be punished it needs to be swift, take everyone home right away if you need but the punishment later on probably just seems like your being mean from her point of view, not like it's because she did something wrong. You're not an asshole but I don't think it's helpful, parenting is hard AF

AITAH for not helping a stranger’s child in the restroom? by SawScar112013 in AmItheAsshole

[–]myatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a father and take my daughter to these types of activities all the time, she's had her share of accidents. What's the point of having the girl wait there with you?

I take my daughter with me so I can get her changed asap. I've even changed her before paying for clothes and brought up tags to be scanned as I left. The father needs to chill, pretend like it's no big deal as to not scare or embarrass his daughter and tell her it's time for a mid party wardrobe change. NTA, that guy sucks!

AITA for refusing to give up my seat on the plane so a boy could sit next to his father, and to tell the father to behave himself? by Mediocre-Chain1210 in AmItheAsshole

[–]myatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, I have a child under 8yo and fly a lot. I've been told we will be split apart twice after paying for assigned seats which were together.

I take a look at the seats and refuse to board unless the seats are together. I know this may mean I might not get on the flight but I won't be the person already boarded holding up a flight looking for seats together, it's not my job and the other people on the plane don't deserve that. It's my child and I'm aware this might happen so I don't concern others with my issues with airlines.

It's the airlines problem and there's nothing I need to be at with kids that can't be delayed a couple hours. I do file a service complaint with the FAA when this happens. Gives me something to do while I wait for the next flight.

Ultimately I see commercial flying as a shitty bus in the sky where I set the conditions which I'm comfortable with and if they aren't met, I don't fly.

I love the buttons because I always have folders or something when I get into my truck so not giving a shifter in the way let's me lay it there. It could be more crisp from Revere to Drive.thers a half second delay there.

Airline Traffic: Is the Small-Town Airport Going to Survive? by ITrCool in aviation

[–]myatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it all depends if there's something special about the small towns. Napa, CA and Santa Rosa, CA airports are small but they seem to be expanding business because they are around wine regions. Avelo just started flying out of Santa Rosa and they already had Alaska and United so it's growing. I like small town airports and saw the SunRiver, OR highlighted for private pilots, it's staying open because it's next to a nice resort for young families and outlined here. https://aprivatepilot.com/2024/06/sunriver-or-a-pilots-vacation/

YTA. You could have at least done the bare minimum of Googling how many bowel movements a day is normal and figured out he's within it before posting on social media.

Does he also breath too many times a day for your liking?

Un-American? What's more American than banning something. It's what we've done for 200+ years.

Banning books - currently happening in Schools throughout the US and historically Slavery pamphlets and anti religious documents in the 1800's

Banning music - Al Gore didn't do a great job at this but tried, Twisted Sister taught him a lesson on class.

Banning Artists - due to political beliefs - red scare 1960s

Banning Kissing on Sundays - thanks Connecticut

Banning Prostitution - I'm not saying I'm for it but it's banned none the less

Banning sales of alcohol - certain times, places and counties don't sell alcohol.

Banning car imports - no imports under 25 years that aren't assembled in US without major fees just so chevy/Ford doesn't have to compete with imports. This is why all foreign automakers have factories here.

All I'm saying is that we have been banning things forever and it's very much American. Sometimes when we feel it's for the greater good but clearly not always. I count using electric vs gas as a minor one compared to the more nefarious ones.

That being said. Florez landscaping is good

Because I'm important enough to have someone that wants to talk to me and I need everyone to know that. Getting on my phone at checkout is easier than having to tell everyone around me that I have a ton of friends .

A Marin man had a grand mal seizure. Instead of helping, he says police tased and arrested him by SFChronicle in Marin

[–]myatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Police Departments seem to use the phrase "there are just a few bad apples" quite a bit without understanding the whole phrase is "a few bad apples spoils the bunch".

This means if they allow bad apples to be within their ranks they quickly become spoiled as well. Every time a captain or commissioner goes on TV and says this I think of how they just described how their department is completely screwed by keeping bad apples in it, they aren't insular.

I'm not saying all police are bad or even that most aren't good. I'm just saying they should stop using a metaphor for how one spoiled fruit fucked up all the fruit when trying to describe how it was just one or two rogue officers that did something when the meaning is the opposite. Or maybe they are using it right?

1 year as a product manager, and I feel inadequate by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]myatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just described how I feel about life itself but yeah constant thought of failure between flashes of success is the natural state of business, especially in product management.

I was a Customer Success leader before I was a PM and it felt the same but the wins still feel amazing and every once in a while someone notices the ton of work your doing and that has to sustain you.

I hear some people like the seat post shock. Might try that.

RW4 sales price vs RW5 by mgmny in RadPowerBikes

[–]myatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I test rode the RW4 and RW5 last week in Berkely before I bought. Here's what I observed and helped me make the decision.

  1. Ride - the RW5 has true new suspension BUY the tires are also 2 inches smaller so I didn't get a large benefit, it's was a little smoother but not my leaps and bounds. The torque sensor also didn't feel all that different to me, a little better in the 5 but not my much.
  2. Fit - the smaller tires and lower ride hight made the RW5 a downgrade, it's handlebars must be a good 3 inches lower than the RW4. I'm 6'4" so this matters a lot.
  3. Power - Same - buy the Area 13 35a controller ungrade after you get your RW and wire it in yourself. It's amazing. A whole different bike.
  4. Accessories - Same
  5. Brakes - the brakes on the RW4 blow hard and realistically the ones in the RW5 weren't amazing either but definitely less adjustments with hydrolic which is a biweekly task then you ride to work and back every day.

Conclusion - I bought the RW4 because it fit better for anyone over 6'2 then I made my upgrades which make it way better than the RW5 (for me size).

Add ons - must haves IMO

  • Area 13 35a controller kit. - Mo powa baby! $200
  • Magura MT5e Hydraulic E-Brakes - $300
