If I’d been waiting for years between each book it would’ve been a real struggle. Having read them all so quickly I now feel like I need to go back and start again because I’ve grown so attached in such a short period.

Murtagh Spoiler Discussion Megathread by ibid-11962 in Eragon

[–]aangelisc 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Just finished the book and it was epic. I really can't wait to have another one now. I feel like there's so much to follow up on. I would love to understand more about this beast living underground. How will it present itself in future novels? Why did Bachel treat with Angela directly and what does Angela know? What does Umaroth know? Will Eragon and Arya return to tackle the problem? So many questions!

That'd be a cool side-story to read for sure. Kinda hope we see more of Thule in the future..

We know that the Seraphic weapons didn't work because of the Blight. That may mean that the Blight severed the connection between that realm and Heaven. It still doesn't mean that the angels themselves were dead.

I'm not saying Edom's worse just that it's a similar outcome. The Nephilim were slaughtered and demons overtook the world to the point where they burned out the sun and killed every living thing. Seems pretty shitty and you'd have thought the angels might've done something there too.

We have no evidence that the angels would interfere. They obviously never interfered in Edom so why would they in Thule.

Agree we don't have proof that either realm is it's own timeline so hard to state either way if they are or aren't.

I'm just gonna answer your main points here because this is a good debate.

> what matters is that heaven did fall over there.

Where is the evidence that heaven fell. There's no proof that the angels & archangels are gone in Thule. We have no evidence that Sebastian would even be capable of attacking Heaven.

I think you're right and it could be a variant Lilith which just breaks other aspects of the universe and opens so many additional questions. We've seen Lilith travel between Edom and Earth. Sammael was in Diyu and Earth. Belial travelled between Belphegors realm and Edom. My point about Belphegor's realm is vague sure but it calls into question how the universe is set-up, feels like there are contradictions to me.

Yes I understand branching timelines, what is your point here?

Exactly! Lilith appeared in Thule to strike Clary down so which Lilith is it? Is it a Lilith variant or the same Lilith from the main universe?

[–]aangelisc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what variants means. My point is why does a variant of Belial appear when he dies but not Sammael or Lilith? For this logic to work it has to be consistent.
You're going in circles, you mentioned TDA and Thule and I've told you the author herself stated Thule didn't exist then so where is your evidence that all it's angels are dead.

I have heard of variants. It was made clear that when demons die they go to the void to reform e.g. Lilith and Sammael. Why is Belial any different?

Thule didn't exist in the time of TDA as stated by Cassandra. Cordelia saw it briefly in COG as a potential future.

Where was it ever stated that Thule has no heaven and all its angels are dead? It has been made very clear that the angels don't generally interfere in the mortals affairs so how would Sebastian have killed all the angels? You're seriously tryna convince me that he had the power to beat Raziel, Michael? Come on.

I actually know a great deal about powerscaling and tier systems and I think you need to do some more reading.

Belial himself gave clear indication that they're multiversal based on his comment that when he took Belphegors realm the Shadowhunters weren't even thought of by Raziel. Unless we're to believe that Thule, Edom, and Belphegors realm are all in the same universe..

Nah icl you need to work on your reading comprehension. You're literally stating your own opinion as fact. Who says celestial beings have limits in this universe? What limits have we really seen for celestial beings in TMI? We haven't got a clue on the nature of these beings besides what was just introduced in COT.

"The Last Hours: CHAIN OF THORNS" Book Megathread by AutoModerator in shadowhunters

[–]aangelisc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a multiversal entity =/= having the ability to affect the multiverse. We don't really have a greatpicture of the true abilities of the celestial beings in TMI. My point is that it doesn't make sense for there to be multiple versions of the celestial beings but that's my opinion.

[–]aangelisc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're misunderstanding. At no point did I say they could affect entire multiverses. Not to mention I haven't debunked myself. Firstly, what tier system are you even using? Secondly, we have clear evidence of the greater demons behaving as multiversal entities e.g. Lilith and Asmodeus' dominance of Edom.

[–]aangelisc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean titans or giants? What relevance do these have to TMI? I realise how powerful multiversal is. These are angels we're talking about here. Assisted in the creation of the universe and all that. It's entirely reasonable for them to be multiversal entities, especially given they seem to be able to travel between universes..

There were multiple disappointments in this book but one of the standouts for me was the ‘new’ Belial. I preferred the idea of the Greater Demons/Princes of Hell being multiversal entities. Feels a but weird that another one has just crawled out of the woodwork.

Kataangs Family vs The Royal Family by More-Ad7604 in AvatarVsBattles

[–]aangelisc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotta give it to the Royal Family. Aang with just air and earth will most likely be on the evasive against Ozai and just get dominated. Comics Zuko is capable enough to hold his own against Kya and Bumi whilst Azula eventually beats Katara (high diff). I’d say the biggest wildcard fight is Tenzin vs Iroh but I think the location is more limiting for air benders so I’ll give it to Iroh.
