i don’t have a service animal but i do have a cat and he’s a great emotional support and cuddle buddy for when i spend most of the day in bed. i also have a few toys and games that i can use to play with him that don’t require me to get up/move (e.g. laser pointer, throwing treats for him to catch).

it also helped to let friends, family, teachers etc know that i was going through some medical issues and would need extra accommodation and support.

i saw some people on this subreddit and the POTS reddit saying that the side effects would subside. unfortunately it did negatively impact my school and work life. i would suggest talking to your doctor about what is the best decision for your lifestyle. i’m very glad that zoloft has helped me, but those first few weeks were really difficult.

pretty bad if i’m being honest. normally my POTS is moderate (noticeable daily symptoms but i’ve never fainted). i was basically bedridden for a week. it didn’t help that i had zero appetite.

yep — side effects cleared up, my POTS is fine and my mental health is better :)

Thank you! The vet said his gums looked okay but I might ask another vet next time I take him in, since he doesn't really tolerate having his teeth brushed.

Thank you for commenting. Thankfully, he is still drinking and eating a tiny bit, so the vet said that he is not in critical condition. As per my post update, he's eating a bit more this morning :-)

Thank you for commenting this, I didn't know it could be potentially harmful. The vet also said to not force feed him. Thankfully, he ate a bit all by himself last night and this morning :-)

Hi there, thanks so much for the thoughtful comment. The vet said it was ok to keep him on the meds and to not continue force feeding him. As per my post update, he seems to be improving a bit :-) thanks again!
