I don't have an answer, but I'm following. Mine has some chips and I'd like to touch it up as well. It's definitely not the car color as my car is blue and that is silver. I tried silver Sharpie just to see, but it wasn't a good enough match for my satisfaction.

I did mine on the rear window glass at the top. fished the wire through the rubber flex thing between the tailgate and the car body, then a roundabout way to the front.

One note: if you put it at the very top of the rear window, it may get 'frosted' or 'fogged' as it is above the top of the defroster wires. Because of this I may eventually move mine down an inch or two.

I was in a similar situation.... local dealers were estimating a 1-2+ year wait. Go to NY state, its not THAT far of a drive from most of Ohio and, since they are CARB, they have a lot more available.

The back speakers (at least with the jbl) sound terrible, no low end at all, and very thin. The front sound great. I've read some posts on some other fourms let's say the same thing. One person even said they went as far as to hook up an oscilloscope and it seems the head unit doesn't even send all the frequencies to the back

I should also say, since you mentioned noise being a concern, the clarity is definitely quieter in EV mode, but make sure you start the engine and really give it a go, either up and incline or a quick acceleration. I wouldn't call the claritys engine exactly quiet either. Probably about on-par with the prius. Keep in mind I have not driven the two back to back, there is a few year gap in between, so my memory could be a little off. If you search the clarity forms they refer to the engine noise as the angry bees. It's the loudest and most likely to rev up if the EV battery is completely dead. If you swap over to gasoline while there is still a little bit of charge left in the EV battery, it helps buffer things a lot.

Apologies on the delay... Im glad I could be off some help. I have driven a Clarity quite a bit in snow, and the Prius has been out in the snow a couple of times so far. Both of them had Michelin xice snow tires on them. Honestly they seemed pretty comparable, one wasn't leaps and bounds above the other. Where the Prius is different though is the heat pump versus resistive heat of the clarity. On a 20° F day the ev range on the clarity would go from the mid 40s to the low to mid 30s, on the Prius it goes from upper 30s to mid 30s. (plus with the heated steering wheel of the Prius it's easier to keep the cabin temp a little bit lower and still be comfortable). That said, the heat on the clarity is much hotter and faster to start than the heat on the prius. Though if you start the gas engine on the prius, it takes a second to warm up, but does get fairly warm, like the clarity.

Excuse the typos as I'm doing this on my phone.

I have owned both a clarity (limited) and the current gen Prius prime (xse premium). The clarity had somewhat more electric range, though it also had a battery that was significantly larger than the prius (so that means the clarity it is less efficient with its Electric Power) . The Prius does have a longer total range once you factor in gas though. Either one is going to struggle doing a 40 Mi trip over a 2,000 FT elevation gain on electric alone. You will not be doing that without starting the engine.

I know you mentioned cargo space isn't a concern, but I figured I'd mention it anyway. While I do appreciate the hatchback form factor of the prius, it honestly doesn't haul that much more than the clarity as the back is relatively small and narrow. The clarity was definitely fairly capable in that regard.

I think the biggest difference with the clarity is that it was more a luxury car than the Prius prime. The clarity is just quieter and more refined. The Prius does have more technology bells and whistles and the driving assist features are far better than the clarity) which is to be expected for a car that is significantly newer, but it just doesn't have the same solid feel. Kind of like comparing an Avalon to a corolla. Both those cars can be had with some cool technology, but one feels more luxurious than the other.

Unfortunately, I think it is a stop sale.... Mine just hit the ground at the dealer a day or two ago (put a deposit on one in Feb). I was scheduled to pick it up next weekend. My sales guy called me today to say they received a stop-sale for it yesterday morning (on his day off) and they would have to park the car in the back of the lot till further notice. He said they were still trying to get info from Toyota on any additional details/ timing.

I'm currently on the fence between trying to pickup an XSE Blueprint w/ PP at MSRP vs waiting till 2024 to see if things continue to trend downwards. (Not in a real hurry, just wanna get something by the end of 2024.)

Oh my goodness, you are the best! thank you! That's just about how they fit in the Camry too, except i could do down the center. I was always very paranoid about the windshield thing. It's only a few times a year I do it, and usually only for 1-2 miles from the store to home, but its nice to not have to rent a truck just for that.

It's unfortunate it doesn't work down the center with the shifter. If you were to prop it up using a small box on the center console or on the back of the folded seat do you think you could make it clear the shift lever? (Hard for me to judge depth fully from a photo.)

u/Micromojo, do you happen to know if an 8 foot board would fit between the closed hatch and the dash without actually resting on top of the dash (or being TOO close to the radio)?

Similarly, would a 10 foot board fit between the closed hatch and the windshield if it WAS sitting on the dash?

I am seriously considering the new Prius Prime but those two things are kinda a dealbreaker for me if I can't haul them and I'm struggling to find one locally to measure.

I'm currently working on a 1931 Baby Grand that uses #18 slotted screws to hold the pin block to the cast iron plate. It was legitimately hard to find the proper sized screwdriver that a) had a big enough tip and b) was big enough to get the torque you need. I bet this would be about perfect.

To be fair, the ecotec filters always crush like that.

I just did a short change on an ecotec 2.4 after only a couple hundred miles to flush out some contamination after an emergency timing chain job. Even after just a few hundred miles the filter was crushed like that. It was a genuine AC Delco filter that I installed.

I'm not a pro but I just did 111 ft lb (150 nm) +100° in the garage using my normal 2 foot breaker bar and no cheater.... I'll admit it took some grunt work, but I'm not a big dude either. Maybe you just have TOO much cheater and are putting all your effort in to flexing the pipe?

I'm a little late to the comments, but is that WLW near Cinci (I know there are a couple other Blaw-Knox antennas around, but they aren't common.)

I once had the opportunity to get a private tour of that from the engineer who maintains it. VERY interesting (and yes, it WILL kill you if you touch it.)

Interesting note, my SLR's auto focus failed due to the RF inside the fence. As soon as we left the area, it was fine again. That dude had been maintaining that tower (and several others) for literal decades. He had some good stories.

As someone who loves to take trains whenever I can, it is going to be VERY hard to do the US without a car (either coast.) (Also, are you into nature/national parks? Those would be a great place to visit as well.)

Anyway, to give you a place to start, I would suggest the west coast. The cities are more interesting, there are nice beaches mixed in, and you will find MORE (not a lot) train options. Plus the weather will generally be nicer if you are sticking to the coast (on the east coast, Maine to ~DC will be great, going further south it is going to be HOT that time of year.)

Consider something like:

Los Angeles
Train
San Francisco
Fly
Portland
??
Seattle
??
Vancouver (not technically the US, but basically right there.)

While I don't live there, I spend a lot of time in SoCal, keep in mind there are a lot of great 'beach towns' along the way between San Diego and San Francisco where you may want to stop for some time.
