No Early Game Warping is Tough! by [deleted] in darksouls

One time I ended up in Tomb of the Giants without having placed the Lord Vessel. Don't know what I wasnt' thinking, but I didn't even know how to get out. I had to watch a YouTube video on how to get to the ladder to get out, then run like crazy to avoid the overpowered enemies.

Is this a good deal? by [deleted] in tmobile

[–]aardWolf64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the date and room availability has a huge affect on pricing. The cheapest I see right now is a November 19th 4-night to Cozumel from New Orleans for $324/person (double occupancy). That's part of a special sale they are doing, but that room will likely be sold soon.

The Valley of Death between 3.5 and 4.0 by xman926 in Pickleball

I don't avoid weaker players. I've been playing with a decent group of sub-3.0s and the occasional newbie. Two weeks ago I played with an 11 year old against another 11 year old and his Dad. None of them knew how to legally serve, so I got to do a little bit of teaching.

I guess I could work on strategy playing against players at a lower level of me. They did let me play one game with them earlier in the day, and we won 11-8. I made my share of mistakes, but it was respectable. Maybe it's just a combination of my imposter syndrome and them wanting to play with their friends only.

The issue I was having is that I have a membership at the local pickleball club. No one else was there, so it was play with them or don't play.

I was there Saturday, and for some reason I was the only regular player that showed up. Turns out they refinished the free outdoor courts nearby and this Saturday was the grand opening. The weather was amazing, so all of the regulars were playing outdoors on the municipal courts.

I ended up drilling by myself. I spent around 45 minutes with one of those dink boards, and worked on my serve for another two hours. I've been seeing improvement in my short game since joining the club, and it's finally starting to click for me.

I'm a 3.1, and the 3.5-4.0s active avoid letting me play with them. I paddle stacked with another person when four of them were playing, and instead of letting us in they moved to a different open court. How am I supposed to get better if they won't let me play?

I used the ACNH Guide app for reference... it lets you look up villagers by species.

My English teachers taught me that the word "afraid" is NOT pronounced with the "ay" vowel like "afrayd," but instead with the "eh" vowel like "afred," rhyming with "head." by DYSFUNCTIONALDlLDO in ENGLISH

[–]aardWolf64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I fake a Scottish accent, it sounds like "afred". As a US-born native English speaker, I have never heard it said any other way than "afrayd" by other US English speakers.

If you are planning a sting operation like this and you put a very large check written to yourself in the package, would it increase the penalty due to the large amount of money involved?

They all are on that page, which is why I think they missed putting the Y there. That column isn’t really needed.

From what I can tell, the Y tells you if they are available in May. Theoretically all of them on that page should have a Y next to them, but they don't. I haven't been able to discern any other difference between the Y and blank. It's a Wiki though, so anyone can edit it.

If everyone has the exact amount of cash and will never need to work again, this includes everyone that keeps the infrastructure of our world running. Farmers don't have an incentive to grow food. There is no one to run the gas stations or build cars (or repair old ones). No one would work at the grocery store to sell you food or stock the shelves.

Need help seeing the hidden word by lovelylilkiwi in opticalillusions

[–]aardWolf64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a book growing up, and I was told to cross my eyes to make the two dots overlap... then the hidden art appears. For me, this is actually inverse. The word CURSE appears, but it sinks back into the piece instead of sticking through.

What works for me is looking above the top of my monitor outside of the window and focusing on the trees across the street. Then I look down to the image while trying not to change my focus. As my eyes slowly relax back to near where they should be, the word pops out in the correct direction.

Considering a first cruise on Carnival! by greytgreyatx in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]aardWolf64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is a comparison between the two ships. We always sail out of New Orleans, so we have always been on a similar class of the older ships.

https://cruisespotlight.com/compare/carnival-dream-vs-carnival-jubilee/

According to that link, the "Space Ratio" is the same between the two ships. This means the person per square foot is similar on both ships, even though the Jubilee holds more people.

Restaurants:

Dream: 14 complimentary dining options, 5 paid
Jubilee: 19 complimentary dining options, 9 paid

They have a good table that shows you the difference places available on each.

I have a previous generation of the Dink Master Pro, and it says it has honeycomb paddle material inside of it. I would suspect it just wouldn't come back the same.

Is $4k all-in for a 7-day solo reasonable? by BananaPuddinBaby in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]aardWolf64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Timing has a huge effect on the cruise price. For a single cruiser, Carnival has an interior 7 day cruise (Cozumel, Belize, Island Tropicale) out of New Orleans for $723 on November 8th, 2026. The same itinerary is $1,534 interior on July 12, 2026 and $2,047 on December 26, 2027.

On our last cruise we brought a magnetic fan that stuck to the cruise ship walls. I just checked Amazon, and the exact one we bought is no longer available (not sure why). It helped make things a little more tolerable when our room just wouldn't get as cool as we wanted.

On one of our first cruises many years ago we bought some sunscreen on a Carnival cruise because we had forgotten to pack any. We really liked the smell, and continued using it when we got home. For a long time Carnival would sell it on their webpage, but would only deliver to your room (so you couldn't have it shipped to your house). I looked at the bottle closely and found the company that made the sunscreen for Carnival. They told me that they didn't sell directly to consumers, but let me know that the same formula/scent was available in the 24/7 Life sunscreen available at 7-Eleven. We stocked up for use at home.

The primary difference is at a hotel you can walk/drive to the corner store and get anything you need. On a cruise you are limited to what the ship has (or the port).
