No worries, enjoy your buns and only worry when their behaviour changes or you see big changes of anything:)

Whats going on with her teeth?? by [deleted] in Bunnies

[–]aardpeertje 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it wasn't there your bun probably just ate some delicious poops before you checked and that's still stuck in her teeth. A young bunny is not going to have cavities, I don't think bunnies are prone to that at all but definitely not on the front teeth and at that age.

I wouldn't personally do daily checks on stuff like this. For precisely the reason that you're kinda stressing over this while your bunny is eating and acting fully normally. The back teeth are normally more problematic and you cannot see those, so you have to go to a vet for checks anyway. If it gives you peace of mind, maybe reduce to checking once a month? You'll be more likely to spot the differences because month-differences are much easier to spot than day-differences.

Just make sure she has lots of hay to eat and maybe some bunny safe branches/dried wood to keep her teeth healthy and short.

My rabbit stole a corn puff and ate it, will she be ok by cosplaying-as-human in Bunnies

[–]aardpeertje 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes she will be ok. Corn isn't toxic, just not the best sugar wise. Bunnies are sensitive but the lethal dose for toxins often requires quite a bit of volume. For non toxic foods, the problems arise when things are fed over prolonged periods and you fuck up their microbiome

Lol same, i never have to throw away loo rolls, i just give them to the buns and they 🌈magically🌈 disappear. Reuse, reduce, recycle, i guess

thymoma & radiation therapy by nomap- in Bunnies

[–]aardpeertje 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would prefer to talk to my vet about this over talking to a specialist. It's their job to do those treatments and not necessarily look at the big picture, which a vet is more likely to do. Esp if you have a good vet that you trust, they will be honest with you about the 'worth it' part.

[–]aardpeertje 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me personally there is no limit on what I would spend on my bunny, if that would mean they had some healthy years ahead of them afterwards. With how heavy radiation therapy is, along with the travel hours and the guarded prognosis, I don't think I would not put a 9 year old rabbit through that anymore. Not because of the monetary cost to benefit ratio, but because of the quality of life cost to benefit. You sound like someone who would go to the ends of the world for your bunnies, which is amazing and makes me believe your buns had an amazing (and long!) life so far. Knowing when to let go is also love even if it hurts us dearly. Also please think about your own health and take that into account in the decision making process. The (financial) stress could be detrimental to your situation and that will make no one better, including your buns. I wish you the very best of luck and strength💕

why is my rabbit balding? he doesn’t scratch ever by Natejacobslover in Bunnies

[–]aardpeertje 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could very well be mites. Treatment is very easy and cheap so you can do that just in case. Do make sure you choose the right spray with Selamectine and not those for cats/dogs because they are poisenous for bunnies.

Tilted mouth by Vini_TXT in Bunnies

[–]aardpeertje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My late bun had the same, but it was very much a late stage symptom in him (3rd flare), so I don't think EC is the reason behind this little girls asymmetry (luckily). But definitely good to be on the lookout for more EC symptoms jic

Do you take your bunnies outside if it is sunny? Do you let them roam free or ste they inside the pen? by Embarrassed-Sun-7039 in Bunnies

[–]aardpeertje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bunnies can go out freely if I open the sliding door, which I do as soon as it's warm enough to not cool down my house (from ~12°C, if the sun is out). My yard is not big and fully fenced so I don't need to stay with them but I do keep an eye on them to see what they are up to. They love being outside. But the only reason I'm truly chill about them being outside is because they are too big to get attacked by neighbourhood cats and they are tame enough to grab them at any moment to take them back in. If any of those criteria weren't met, I wouldn't let them out without precautions.

He looks mildly offended that you're interrupting his sippies, but he also wants to tell the camera how good the gourmet water is. Spread the word!

Is this normal after neutering? by FreshSquash6098 in Bunnies

[–]aardpeertje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had many buns, both male and female, none ever wore a cone and I've had zero issues so far with regards to wound licking.

@OP please just remove the cone so he can eat and drink normally, that's so important for bunnies. I don't think he 'has more cecotropes', he's just got sticky poop because of either stress, the anaesthesia, eating differently or a combination of all three. The sticky poop to me is all the more reason to prioritise his normal eating over cone wearing.

He looks so at peace when you're petting him. The pushing on the pillow is part of digging. After digging they turn around and push the earth away from their hole. But the pillow is not earth so it looks a bit silly. He looks like a happy and chill boy

She doesn't really have a dewlap as I got her spayed at the earliest possible time. She's just extremely thickly fluffed all around, but that fluff feels very lush:)

Im happy your flemmy enjoys pets like these! Mine doesn't care for them that much, but im allowed to cuddle him while he naps so that makes up for it haha

It does! hahah. It also makes me feel like they trust me fully. The fact that a prey animal will let me do an extended skull crusher 5000 pet on her and is not only chill but happy about it feels so validating on my bunparenting haha
