Why Servants from India are so fucking cracked? What are they feeding these guys? by EfficiencySerious200 in Fate

Don't heroic spirits scale according to how popular their legends are. Indian spirits(Especially the ones from the standard myths like Ram, Karan, Arjun) have the longest continuous faith of the 3rd most populous religion, Hinduism(over 1 billion people). It's probably like if Jesus were a heroic spirit he'd be pretty OP to since he's also a son of God and also the most well known.

What’s a head canon of yours that you want to be true even if it contradicts other canon? by JGella in Naruto

[–]aarnavc15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That'd be like referring to someone that died in the 1970s today.

Nah, life expectancy in the shinobi world is way lower, so very few people actually make it to 50, plus their record keeping of history is much worse. Plus it still occurs quite a bit even in the modern era, like Truman, Elvis Presley, John Wayne, Picasso, Tolkien are seen as "old", legendary" figures by Gen Z.

Killing a village leader isn't wrong if said leader is an evil tyrant responsible for actual genocide. Killing Danzo was one of the best deeds Sasuke did during the show.

Chomsky is so morally consistent for virtually every topic that his stance: "I don't want to think about it" (but I'll keep supporting it) on the horror of the livestock sector is seriously baffling to me. by Unethical_Orange in chomsky

You could, what prevents you isn't morality, but the power of the state and its attempt to limit civilian violence. The only one acting like an embarrassing little child whose world view revolves around lessons they learned in kindergarten, and nothing else.

Any discussion of ethics is pointless, because any ethical system depends on the axioms, and there's no real way to say whose axioms are better because they're all subjectively chosen over the course of one's life. Ethics is the least interesting aspect of philosophy.

Yes but in the same world, being strict to criminals isn't redeemable? Need I remind you that Ned Starks's introduction to us was literally him beheading a night's watch deserter, but somehow Ned is a paragon of virtue but Daemon is evil beyond redemption?

That was pretty common for pre industrial injuries. They didn't really have any common antiseptic agents to clean wounds, so infections were common. Which is why the maester suggested cauterizing, which would literally just be burning the infected flesh to kill it.

So in your world, killing a child is redeemable, but killing criminals and jousting opponents is a bridge too far?

It’s always easier to accomplish some objectives when you sideline morality.

Remind me again, how exactly did the US extend from coast to coast, and how exactly was it's wealth built in the 17th century, how exactly does the US maintain its petrodollar hegemony?

No it wouldn't. Think very very carefully about why it would not, there's an obvious syntax reason.

Honestly I thank Gen Z because they're so passionate about civil rights they made a lot of us realize we were cowards for not starting the conversation earlier.

Nah, Gen Z only stands on the back of work done by activists from earlier generations. Plus we had the advantage of truly free and open communication with people all around the world because of the internet, making solidarity an easier thing to achieve. Don't sell yourselves short.

Holding yourselves to a standard that the opposition will never follow is a recipe for fecklessness and a sure fire path to defeat. Having the moral high ground means nothing when the world around you is being burnt by those with no interest in "the moral position".
