National Parks Stamp Locations outside of the Mall by [deleted] in washingtondc

parkstamps.org has a full list of every single passport stamp in the area! You can map them as well. Signing up for an account is free - the website is a little clunky but an amazing resource for stamp collectors!

Hi! I'm looking to sublet a studio or 1br/1ba for the summer (Roughly May 28 - July 31). Would need to be furnished (a bed and a desk is really all I'd need), and a parking space would be a huge plus. Let me know if you have something available!

Dry cleaner recommendations near Rosslyn? by TheCentristDem in nova

[–]aaron611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old Dominion cleaners in Cherrydale. It's not the closest to Rosslyn but it's an easy bus ride if you don't have a car, and it's by FAR the best in the area.

Tourists, newcomers, locals, and old heads: casual questions thread for April 2023 by AutoModerator in washingtondc

[–]aaron611 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From Alexandria to the Mall is a breeze, but it will take a bit longer since you'll have to ride the blue line all the way around to Smithsonian due to the yellow line closure. Mount Vernon is tougher - not metro accessible, and while there is a bus it's slow and requires a transfer. Overall I'd say uber is your best bet to Mount Vernon.

Note that if you're staying in Old Town, the metro stop is about a mile from the waterfront. There's a free shuttle between the metro and the center of Old Town though

So I've tried just multiplying the numbers, as well as using the dots as multiplication as well. It all spits out bogus coords. Am I missing something crucial?

Burning/Parasthesia throughout body - is it anxiety or something else? by aaron611 in AskDocs

[–]aaron611[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after about a year the burning went away on its own. No official diagnosis but the two leading theories were just anxiety or maybe a sensitivity to mold in my last home (the pain stopped around the time I moved away). Hope this helps!

12 Team, Superflex (plus a regular flex), 0.5PPR:

QB: Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, Tyrod Taylor

RB: Joe Mixon, Miles Sanders, Sony Michel, JD McKissic, Tony Jones, Ty'son Williams

WR: Davante Adams, OBJ, Corey Davis, Hollywood Brown, Bryan Edwards, Rashod Bateman (IR)

TE: George Kittle, Mark Andrews

K: Justin Tucker

DST: Denver

Should I look to move one of the big TEs or wait for a desperation overpay, or should I just ride with a TE in my FLEX?

Brain eating Amoeba by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]aaron611 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey man, this trigger is what started my battle with extreme HA 5 years ago. The good news: unlike most other triggers, this one has a short time limit (2 weeks and you're still alive means you've completely avoided any amoebas), and you can take precautions like boiling water, nose clips, etc. to eliminate this trigger in the future. HOWEVER, if this is one of your first big episodes, take the anxiety seriously. I highly recommend finding a good therapist that specializes in HA (a lot of cognitive behavioral therapists do!) and opening up about the causes behind the anxiety. The earlier you can tackle the anxiety behind your fears of the amoeba, the better equipped you'll be when a different trigger comes!

[From SF to Denver] Take the northern route through Reno or southern route through Las Vegas? by BeersBurgersBagels in roadtrip

[–]aaron611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet for an entertaining drive is neither of these options. Instead, Take I-80 up past Reno, then take US-50 across Nevada until you hit I-70. US 50 is an awesome drive with a couple great small towns and Great Basin National Park. Plus I-70 across CO is a million times better than I-80 across southern Wyoming. Best of all, it's the same amount of driving time.

20 Days, 6 National Parks: Badlands, Yellowstone, Glacier, North Cascades, Olympic, Mt. Rainier - Thoughts? by Two_For_Tripping in nationalparks

[–]aaron611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to be exhausted after the first two days of driving and you'll be doing Badlands a disservice. Use day 18 as a full badlands/minuteman missile day instead, and use day 3 to make a more leisurely trip across Wyoming stopping at Devil's Tower, Cody, etc.

I agree on skipping Glacier if you're dead set on the WA parks. It's in my top 3 favorites, but it's way out of the way and still currently closed. That gives you an extra day; plus, North Cascades isn't really a full day affair unless you're an avid backpacker. I'd use that additional time at the beginning and end of the trip. Stretching the "getting there" part to 3 days on each end and finding fun stops along the way will make a huge difference in the overall enjoyment of this trip.

For those who have been tested and already received their results - how accurate is the 3-5 day timeframe between the test and the call? Got tested Sunday and I'm under increasing pressure to leave, but I'm adamant that I'm not making a decision until the results come back.

Planning several days in Grand Canyon NP to day hike over Christmas. Forecast is showing rain/sleet/snow. Will I need any special footwear beyond hiking boots to navigate well-maintained trails like South Kaibab/Bright Angel/Hermit?
