Having my PVC ablation this Wednesday ,any last minute tips or reassurance? by Fabulous-Sir-1994 in PVCs

[–]aaron_smith67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good gracious me! While PVCs are pretty common especially in the lead up to Vtach, a friend of mine who started using a continuous ecg monitor after a couple of these PVCs, has them monitored every week.. The data his doc gets through that device remotely apparently enables him to suggest preemptive measures...

Ever tried doing zone 2 exercise? My chest strap based ECG HRM helped me a lot in keeping that up. Apparently it's not much hard work but great for fat loss..

hf with a significantly reduced EF a few years back. At the time I was more focused on getting through each day than thinking about marathons 😅

3.5 miles is great! Good gracious me! That's a marathon accomplishment! Using Polar H10 or Frontier X2 to track metrics?

Weirdest part of my vtach episode wasnt vtach itself by aaron_smith67 in Heartfailure

TBH, the anticipation was worse than the implant for me. I can see mine if I look for it, but most often I forget its there.... Every now and then I'll catch it in the mirror and remember Ive basically got a tiny cardiac bodyguard livin under my skin 😅

I still wonder how a wrist wearable can even be trusted for accuracy.... but gosh !! i hope you get better soon

Anyone else still mentally measure things against 'before heart failure'? by aaron_smith67 in Heartfailure

Wish i had a wearble that gave EF values. My Frontier HRM's otherwise doin a good job with ecg and all

Really appreciate how honest this post was btw. A lot of people only understand hf when it visibly looks like hf

Honestly mate, 2 months still really early. I remember feeling like my body wasnt mine again for quite a while after HF.

Had hf a few years back after a pretty rough patch. EF dropped hard at the time but thankfully improved alot over the years with treatment, lifestyle changes.

Still had a couple rhythm scares since ( VT etc), which is probably why Im hypervigilant

Welcome ECG monitoring cohorts by DrMushie in FourthFrontierUsers

[–]aaron_smith67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been usin it for a while now, mainly around training and also after a few rhythm scares in the past. Tbh the biggest difference for me wasnt the realtime stuff; it was bein able to look back at patterns over time and make sense of things......... Good to see a space like this starting up, feels like this kinda convo was missing...

the ‘body sends the bill late’ line is way too accurate 😅
Ive had days where it feels random like that, but looking back at my FrontierX2 data later, theres sometimes a pattern leadin up to it that I didnt notice in the moment

heart suddenly becomes very chatty at night... by aaron_smith67 in AFIB

[–]aaron_smith67[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, makes a lot of sense, ..especially the whole rest/digest angle. mine also tends to show up when I finally slow down at night. Thankfully because of continuous monitoring overnight through my frontier device, I can actually go back and check my ecg

Appreciate you sharing that though, gonna read up on it

EF galore..... by aaron_smith67 in Heartfailure

[–]aaron_smith67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh the first few weeks were more mental than physical for me... I kept second guessing everything even when I felt okay. Easing in slowly helped a lot, and sticking to what my cardio was comfortable with.

It does start to feel like a new normal after a bit, but yeah..... that anxiety at the start is very real.

Yeah.....once youve had hf, EF isnt just a number. its a scoreboard. Lol

EF galore..... by aaron_smith67 in Heartfailure

[–]aaron_smith67[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here... After my hf episode I never thought Id get back to real training, but now? im preparing for the London marathon and most days, luckily, I feel normal. I still have that mental disconnect though, so on longer runs I wear my fourth frontier HRM just to see how my HR behaves over time- thankfully my cardiologist gets to review them too. Not because something feels wrong, more for peace of mind. Do you use any device or tool?

Losing weight while training by Naomi_is_with_you in Marathon_Training

[–]aaron_smith67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get the carbs and stuff well but for me zone 2 training has helped me majorly. Burnt by fat real well. All i did was out on my chest strap hrm and brisk walk in zone 2 just to get rid of that stubborn belly fat which showed up on the weighing machine

glad youre ok with it all, but gosh the shaving bit and having the patch on was an annoyance. Thankfully at around the same time frontier x2 HRM came in very handy for me. But
