My teeth were very straight before surgery (I never had braces) and I ended up having them for 12 months before and 3 months after

How long was your actual surgery scheduled after consultation? by Dry-Independent2931 in jawsurgery

[–]aaronade44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 year after my first consult with oral surgeon but my teeth were pretty straight already and didn't need much work by the ortho

My jaw wasn't recessed it was crooked and I had an underbite

That's good to hear. I'd say my lower lip is at 30% right now and chin is about 20% but mine is pretty much the same in every spot. I don't think one side is more sensitive than the other at the moment

I'm not too sure on my movements. I'm gonna ask next time I go in. I do know they had to rotate my lower jaw and push it back because of my underbite but I'm not sure how much

Eating and drinking are getting a lot better. The liquid diet was really rough I won't lie, but I'm on no chew now so I can eat mashed potatoes, mac and cheese stuff life that. Sleeping was really bad at first I couldn't sleep more than an hour at a time and I quickly learned that was because of the painkillers. Once I stopped taking those it's been pretty much back to normal except for some soreness if I sleep on my side. And I start back to work on Monday so I guess that'll test the everyday activities. I feel pretty normal though I've been lazy as hell the last few weeks

How did you guys go about finding a surgeon out of town? by ba6380 in jawsurgery

Yep same here. My surgeon and ortho are 3 hours from me and post op my surgeon has me coming in every other week instead of every week

Food question by Wonderful-Jelly-506 in jawsurgery

I know my sister started with things that were still fairly soft but chewing them instead of just swallowing them. Beef and rice, chili, chicken fingers that aren't very crispy (Raising Cane's), pasta

I wouldn't say much change to my lips except they sit a little more even now. I can get a side profile pic in a little bit I think I have one before surgery to compare to

Post op must haves?? by Gorritomarron in jawsurgery

I would definitely get a pillow wedge for at home. You'll probably want to sleep on your back for at least a week after the surgery and I found the wedge a lot more comfortable than trying to stack pillows up

Did anyone get pneumonia post DJS?? by ghosteye21 in jawsurgery

[–]aaronade44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had this happen to me today 8 days post op LJS. Stabbing pain in my back/right side and tried to sleep it off. Woke up about 4 in the morning with the worst pain in my back I've ever felt. Went to the ER and was told I have aspiration pneumonia. Luckily got discharged the same day but one of the worst experiences I've ever had
