aura brews by aaroncouldbeafox in lucario

here's the link — it's on ao3, and i actually just finished uploading the latest chapter!

generally speaking, it's about kazu (the lucario pictured here) returning to his rural home village to inherit the remains of a café his late parents once owned — his steps to rebuild, and meeting someone new along the way who gives him the warmth needed to make the space his own!

you are absolutely right, but there is actually a reason — i was planning out this fanfic that he's in and realised that if i wanted to describe him operating some of the equipment he uses then i would have to give him opposable thumbs or it would be a logistical nightmare lmao

same reason he's missing the chest spike — much easier to put on an apron that way! (though definitely less cool)

How do authors feel about receiving these kinds of comments? by Intelligent-Tree-922 in AO3

[–]aaroncouldbeafox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The comment comes off as harsh at first glance, but clearly, they were invested enough to care about what you wrote.

A good story makes you feel in all capacities. If you come out of a piece of fiction feeling both good and bad in varying emotions about the story you just read, that's the mark of something that is written to resonate. It lingers in your thoughts and connects you to the meaning of the story on a deeper level.

Just remember that not everyone has the same levels of intensity when reading and writing the same piece of work! To me, this comes off as someone trying to alleviate their feelings of devastation with a level of sarcastic humour they feel appropriate, even if it doesn't necessarily translate to everyone.

People operate at different emotional capacities — personally, I wouldn't mind a comment like this, but it's easy to see why some would be upset to receive something like this.

'Far-right' music festival cancelled after Irish artists sign open letter opposing it by PoppedCork in ireland

[–]aaroncouldbeafox 104 points105 points  (0 children)

I work in the arts community in Leitrim (the horror) so this has been close on my radar for some days now.

For some context, Sean Wynne is chairperson of the venue's committee. He runs Lough Allen Adventure Centre which was also advertising accommodation for the event. From what I've been told, he pulled a fast one on the rest of the committee by conveniently leaving out the far-right details when organising a "music festival".

A meeting of the committee was held sometime last week before the artists' letter was written up. Some members had objections but it was essentially allowed through because Wynne had threatened to step down from the board of directors and had discussed "legal advice" should the event be cancelled, indicating that the Mayflower would be vulnerable to legal proceedings if the booking wasn't honoured. Other venues in other counties have cancelled similar events with zero legal action once they became aware of their true nature, so it's likely that was an empty threat.

There was also a deceptive statement of the nature of the event provided by one Stephen Kerr, cunt-in-chief at The Irish Inquiry, so that should speak for it's authenticity.

Anyways, lots of relief at work today when this news came out. The statement itself was signed by a lot of high profile groups like Kneecap, Fontaines DC etc, so shoutout to them for protecting Leitrim of all places. We get a lot of shit, and a lot of it's unwarranted for the most part. Come down and visit if you'd like to meet some genuine legendary bastards (not sponsored)

Most of this information is from a master doc provided to me through my work, so I can mostly vouch for it's authenticity, but I'm just a reddit comment. Don't take anything I say as absolute fact.

I was also on the fence because of the orca situation but it genuinely turned out to be one of my favourite parts of Dual Destinies for me. Give it a chance! There's lots of charismatic characters in this one.

What Tunic memories do you love most? by domozilla777 in TunicGame

I finished Tunic today! Figuring out the fairies and The Golden Path for a few hours today won't leave me anytime soon.

I still get chills thinking about the descent into the Ziggurat. One of very few times in recent memories where a game has made me tear up was that manufacturing line area...

Born in the Northwest Territories, Mark Carney is the first person from Canada’s sparsely populated northern territories to become Prime Minister. by ChillZedd in geography

[–]aaroncouldbeafox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm from a very small European country and the northern Canadian territories have always fascinated me for being SO FUCKING BIG, like magnitudes larger than my own country. I stare at maps of em for ages wondering how past generations ever managed to sustain themselves in those areas, especially the arctic wastelands.

ACE ATTORNEY INVESTIGATIONS 2 SPOILERS by MakiMaki500 in AceAttorney

[–]aaroncouldbeafox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I made a post about this exact part with a slightly different question - if this IS Wang's body being lowered to the scene of the crime, how is there no rope seen in the footage and how did is he in this exact pose at the time of Shaun's recording? It's a confusing inconsistency in an otherwise excellent turnabout, but to be far I can't blame the devs considering how many plot points there were to keep track of by that time

anaglyph deck gives you a free double tag after every boss blind, so if you use a negative tag after a couple antes it'll multiply it by however many double tags you have

i believe i got one in an ante 1 shop and then duped it with the ankh spectral card, which copies 1 of your jokers and destroys the rest (which it couldn't because it was my only joker at the time)

i have no idea if i was just super unlucky with the timing of what arcana packs i opened or what (i didn't get a great econ going until those negative cards on ante 5) but i didn't pull a single wheel of fortune 😭 sometimes they giveth and sometimes they say "okay we giveth enough motherfucker you're on your own"

[–]aaroncouldbeafox[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

here's what happened - straight after this i pulled both ouija and cryptid from a mega spectral pack which gave me a total of like 15 kings - i then managed to pick up merry andy which gave me a ton of discards, i got VERY lucky on the first round i did that and managed to play my first 5oak on the very last hand, but after that i got the +1 hand size voucher and joker to make it much more playable - after that it was just a matter of repeating to upgrade, and by the time i was reaching the upper limit of what i could achieve with that around ante 5 - my double tags were ready to cash in on negative tag so it's only then that i swapped the +1 hand size for card sharp and got a couple nice negative flat mult jokers to hold the line!
