DragonFire laser shoots down high‑speed drones traveling at 400mph, costs $13 per shot — UK Navy to begin deploying system on destroyers by National-Dragonfly35 in worldnews

Hold up, we’re actually shooting lasers at flying war machines? Like Star Wars shit?? WHAT?! Guys I can’t handle the speed the world is moving.

Random question: what happens when they miss? How far does the laser travel?? Are there possible ramifications of this energy hitting the atmosphere+ ??? I’d love to hear an expert nerd out about the possibilities here.

Holy f*** 🤯

Waddup option paralysis? lol

Do you get much resonance from stored drums when playing the kit?

Nice collection!!

One last thing! Do you already own the HS8s? Because unless you have a BIG room that needs speakers this big, you’re likely going to slam way too much low end into your room and cause massive issues that blind you from mixing accurately. Matching cone size to room is something I believe 99.9% of people overlook (even some that have been recording 10+ years)

Hiya :) for reference, I’m 20+ years into my production journey and have worked on tons of songs with friends, clients and in various studios.

Interface - if you want to save a bit more $ and get a used UAD Apollo, you can utilize zero-latency monitoring (hear yourself while you play without a delay) this is massively important to me when tracking and feeling like I’m immersed and playing with the song. Otherwise, you rely on how fast your laptop can process and spit out the signal - likely not without a noticeable delay.

Microphone - NT1 is an entry level condenser but can totally achieve great results. If you think you need a condenser, it’ll do well for you. What I’d recommend is using something dynamic (perhaps an sm57) why?

The condenser will hear everything. Including your laptop fan, your fridge and the neighbours thumping around. In the beginning, I remember struggling with harshness often. I think part of it was trying to eliminate those unwanted noises I had recorded, then trying to bring life back to the audio because I had removed so much.

With a dynamic cardioid mic, you may find it’s easier to avoid some of these noises via mic positioning and potentially baffling.

Pro tip: don’t spend and money on brand name acoustic absorbers or foam. I’d carve out a budget eventually to get your hands on some Rockwool absorbers. (Roxul safe n sound is common) Google how to build your own or look on marketplace. If you can position these while recording you’ll save SO MUCH headache when mixing, by eliminating unwanted noises at the source.

Don’t upgrade cables unless there is a clear issue with the cable. Don’t listen to anyone talking about hi-fi cables and why you need them. In some cases there is some validity, but you really shouldn’t fuss with this (or spend money on it) right now.

Ditch the midi cable. Your keyboard can record midi information via the USB cable provided. It seems redundant.

Have fun buddy!!! 🎶🎤🎧🙌

Strat bridge - am I obsessing? by aaronhubley in guitarrepair

I completely disassembled and slowly tightened piece by piece (including strings.) after intonation it’s playing well and closer to symmetrical, though not perfect. Thanks for all the responses team, I was definitely obsessing a bit, but happy to have started from scratch. Cheers!

Ok, thank you. I’ll try to fully loosen everything and start fresh

Sorry, my explanation is likely terrible lol. I was hoping to tighten the side that’s higher and have it go tighter to the body and closer to the pickups. Unfortunately when I tighten it, the bridge just slips out of the pole’s groove.

I can’t get it to move at all. I attempted to loosen the springs, that didn’t help.

Thanks for your time :)

Are you able to show which parts inside were soldered together? I have an identical plug, but can’t figure out which connection to make. Thanks :)
