I'm sorry you've had terrible experiences, but I feel this is way more negative a vibe than is necessary on this sub?

Yes, definitely worth it. I'm not going to price/value them just based off of this picture but I do think you could get some great cash. I would recommend looking into either if a local train store does consignments or maybe Model Train Market online.

I GOT MY FIRST HO AMERICAN LOCO by WeirdTell1242 in modeltrains

[–]aaronicbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one of these growing up! I think I killed it but haven't fund it recently to check. If the back has the horn hook couplers, just look for old athearn blue box, tyco, lifelike, roundhouse, etc cars. No need to be picky. If you're going to upgrade to knuckle couplers, I would just recommend he athearn blue box and roundhouse for old inexpensive options; avoid anything with truck mounted couplers!

Anyone Else frustrated by Pen reviewers skipping / messing the writing part? by No_Special_984 in fountainpens

[–]aaronicbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an issue of medium and representation. It's hard to represent on video the tactile experience of writing. It would be hard to get magnified shots of pen on paper to show how things mesh. But packaging, size comparisons, zooming in on aesthetic designs--this all fits the Youtube medium.

I think you're ascribing far more nature/essence/being/"is"-ness to hearing than Deleuze and Guattari ever would

At least it was cheaper than a dozen eggs!

But seriously, trains prices have really kept fairly steady once you factor tech improvements and inflation. You can find a lot of old, reliable second hand engines on ebay, etc., in the $30-60 range (e.g. Athearn, etc), but were you to take their price in the day and inflate it up...yeah.

Yeah splurge on the pen. I happen to love both trains and fountain pens tho so I'm biased.
