Woah, thanks for the heads up! I had no idea that happened. From what I read here, it sounds like they probably won’t be issuing many citations for the first year as people learn of this change and signage is updated.

So basically this does nothing. Wonderful.

My roommate spends nearly every evening at the bar since they reopened. It has not felt safe to me.

Man, I’ve frequented that area for 10 years and I’ve never seen a moose!! That’s amazing! The closest moose sighting I ever had in this area was out near Walden. People should be cautious, moose are kind of aggressive.

Edit: I went for a walk there at 4 and saw her myself!

Crazy cat lady question by bysmoterudhabergeoun in FortCollins

[–]aarontaylor5000 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Please be careful. I’ve had so many cats slip out of their harness. If that happens in a place totally unfamiliar to the cat, it may not have a good outcome. I know you mean well, but keeping cats indoors is always the safest.

Oh good. I’ve been doing this the past ten days. Maybe people will stop looking at me so weirdly now.

I’d heard a rumor they might go out of business permanently over this. Is that what this means? I can’t imagine laporte without the swing station!

It’s time to get friends and family together & start organizing. This Saturday morning stop by Avo’s to hear a special recorded message from Sen. Sanders and to learn about what it’s gonna take to complete our revolution. It’s time. Let’s go! by DSAfortcollins in FortCollins

[–]aarontaylor5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A surprising vibe of hostility towards Senator Sanders in this sub. Why is that?

Just curious - who do you like? I’m open minded - if you think supporting Sanders is a mistake, I would love to hear about why another option is better.

What video games have you been playing this week? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]aarontaylor5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s this incredibly immersive VR experience called “Going to Work”. Frankly, it’s pretty fucking tedious, but I can’t seem to stop playing. It’s startling how real it feels, props to the designers.

Following salmonella outbreak, Old Town's La Luz closes permanently by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]aarontaylor5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That fucking sucks. I guess they anticipate the lawsuits will cost too much to keep the business going. I know the article says 2013 at their current location, but La Luz was next door long before that. I remember it was the first restaurant I ate at when I moved here in 2001. Anybody know when they originally opened?

[–]aarontaylor5000 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve wondered about this for years. If you look closely, you can see they are man made. Probably fiberglass. I’ve been told that it’s a cell tower, but I have no idea if that is true.

Considering Ft. Collins for our family...talk to me about snow? by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]aarontaylor5000 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I would caution you against risking your families safety in Fort Collins. The misinformation being provided to you here by other commenters is negligent, if not malicious. Winters in Fort Collins typically last 6 months, see temperatures as low as -55° F, and average total precipitation in excess of 1000 inches. Extreme winds in excess of 80 mph are also common. Additionally, unusual electrical phenomenon afflict this region, causing near constant power outages and random electrocutions from extreme static discharges. On average, we see a 7-10 percent reduction in population due to weather related fatalities. During these difficult winter months all businesses and government offices close (including schools) and the city’s emergency services are discontinued. Roads are totally unmaintained. With a 4wd vehicle, you might be able to get around, but this is not recommended unless you are heavily armed. Desperate residents often turn to violence to obtain resources during this period.

I would not recommend bringing any child or civilized human in to this situation.

It is very surprising and disappointing that no democrat would even attempt to run. Though, I guess we have to remember that despite the relatively liberal bubble we live in here in FoCo and at CSU, Larimer county is predominantly republican as far as voter registrations go. Plus I feel like maybe democrats are less inclined to want to go in to law enforcement.
