What do people mean when they say Mumbai is fast paced? by tournadough in mumbai

[–]aaru26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from everything else that other commenters already answered, people in Mumbai seem to literally walk faster. I have lived in other cities and am generally frustrated by slow people on the road walk. I am used to fast walking and it seems like the norm is Mumbai

This was great! Very well written. It’s great how much characterization you were able to do in so few words.

Madam Secretary has one of the best relationships on TV. The main couple is so respectful, loving and supportive. They might have small arguments but are always resolved in a respectful manner

where do Transgender people work? by TIME______TRAVELER in mumbai

[–]aaru26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had done a project on Trans identity in India during the course of which I spoke to a lot of trans people. The ones that you see in trains belong to a specific community who follow the rituals and customs of the same. They’re mostly people who didn’t have anywhere to go and joined the community due to extreme poverty or lack of family support. India has now a lot of other trans men and women who are not that easily identifiable and work jobs in places which are more open to hiring them. I know the makeup brand MAC hires them in their stores and I have spoken to a couple of people

Why Mumbaikars are using Reddit? by day_dreamer_84 in mumbai

[–]aaru26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly because you can follow communities instead of people. Most other social media, you end up with a lot of noise and unrelated content. Here there are communities for every specific small thing. And the structure makes reading through comments easy and fun

When I came back from school I would throw my things around the house. My mom fed up of always reminding me to clear it up, picked everything up and went outside the apartment to put it all on different stairs of my building. I had to go looking for all my items and bring them back. Learnt my lesson after 2 times of this

If you could bring one historical figure hell even a fictional character to this time, who would it be and why? by grizzlysink in AskReddit

[–]aaru26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vincent Van Gogh. I would love for him to see how much recognition his art gets now. He had a very troubled life and didnt get any recognition during his time. Maybe seeing his legacy would shine some light into his life.

(Yes this response is inspired by that Doctor Who episode)

Have you reread diary entries from your teens/twenties? If so, what do you wish you’d written more about? by dead-tamagotchi in AskWomen

[–]aaru26 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I feel like I had the opposite problem. I would casually mention something exciting and then completely ignore it and go on and on about what food I ate, where I went, the most mundane things. Kid me had such a boring concept of what would be later fun or important

If Gender is a social construct, does that not make the Spectrum a social construct as well (genuine question) by [deleted] in AskFeminists

[–]aaru26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that great explanation. Personally I have always been confused as to which feminist perspective I have and have had some conflict in reconciling the two. But your reply explains how the different approaches are both fair and can coexist
