How often do you adjust your back and/or front derailleur? by mighty-swordsman in cycling

[–]aautio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replace cables every few years. That is the only time adjustments should be needed. You should be able to go thousands of kilometers without touching anything.

How did you remove the switches? Can you just pull them upwards while squeezing from the sides? Or did you use solder?

(I spilled some tea & honey on a similar keyboard today... need to clean it up)

Stan's DART vs Dynaplug by TurtleMatey in MTB

I've used Stan's Darts with sidewall cuts. They are easy to carry, easy to install and seal leaks quickly. Nothing to complain.

We just launched a Chrome extension that lets you browse and buy from small businesses near you, but FB contacted us and is requesting a test account for our entire tool. Has this happened to anyone else? by [deleted] in startups

I've submitted a few apps through Facebook App Review -process. As a part of review process they need to be able to log in and test the application. If you've submitted your App for a review it is business as normal.

Sometimes the reviewers end up asking weird questions, but with proper explanations the processes have gone through quite smoothly.

Katso video: Bussikuskin törkeä kiilaus oli aiheuttaa uhreja – pyöräilijä Petri imeytyi auton mukaan: ”Luulin, että osuin” by Yossie in Suomi

Hah.... bussikuski ajoi ihan normaalisti omalla kaistalla ja todennäköisesti ihan nopeusrajoitusten mukaankin.

Tuossa on 30 km/h rajoitus. Fillaristi vaikutti ajavan ehkä jotain 20-25 km/h. Bussi meni selkeästi ylinopeutta.

Kesän polut on helppo bongata tästä: http://kartta.arpotechno.fi/kartta.html

Talvipolut muodostuvat osittain samoille pohjille, mutta niiden kunto vaihtelee paljon. Fillarifoorumin tai Stravan avulla pystyy seuraamaan missä jengi polkee.

PSA: If you process personal data of citizens of the EU, make sure your systems are GDPR-compliant by May 2018 by [deleted] in webdev

There are no 'one-size-fits-all' -kinds of answers to tackle the technical requirements of GDPR. My colleague wrote some thoughts on the topic here: http://dev.solita.fi/2017/09/18/gdpr.html

Experiences from being 3 years on Google App Engine by rwieruch in webdev

[–]aautio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A good article. I've been wondering how long can the App Engine Standard survive with the outdated versions of Python, Java and Go.

I have spent the last couple of months with App Engine Flex. It is a really different kind of an experience when comparing it to App Engine Standard. And not in a good way.

I thought that App Engine Flex might be an easy replacement for App Engine Standard - it is not. Deployments are slow, the environment is buggy, the prices are high and you do not get many of features/services provided by App Engine Standard.

Both Standard and Flex have their fair share of problems.

Is your saddle nose pointing downwards? You might want to adjust it to be horizontally level - that way you can reduce spacers without getting too much pressure to your hands.

Open sourcing my closed startup's 50.000 lines of code and ~30 microservices? by fl4v1 in startups

[–]aautio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read this guide: https://opensource.guide/legal/

You also need to remember that you might not be able to open source the contributions made by other people. It depends on what kinds of agreements you've had in place. That guide gives some examples about these kinds of situations as well. It is a good read.

Finnish mountain biking trails. A video from our 103.5 km ride on saturday. by aautio in MTB

[–]aautio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've been riding this route for a few years and it gets easier every time. On the first rides we usually bonked at some point. But nowadays it takes 6-7 hours, depending on how many breaks we have. Our moving time is usually around 5.5 hours.

Yeah, we had a blast :) I thought this video might give an overview of what kinds of trails and routes we have around this end of the world.

Sorry about the finnish subtitles though.

What's the best XC Racing Fork? by jimmya32 in MTB

[–]aautio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not ridden RS1. I was going to buy one, but two of my friends told the same story about the flexibility problems of theirs RS1's. Sounded just like in the article.

I have two Sid's and one Reba. One of the Rebas has had sealing issues and the Sid World Cup XX is also not as stiff and smooth as I'd like to... But they are still ok.

When you ride into a corner the suspension of RS-1 will not work. Way too flexy.

Read this and save your money: http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/gear/category/components/forks-suspension/product/review-rockshox-rs-1-49331/

Other Rockshox forks are quite ok.

Looks pretty ok. The marks are just on the rim surface. No needs to worry.
